What are my chances for Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Wharton?

I’m an international student studying in a British school.I want to apply to Wharton but my grades are not so perfect.
Just want to ask if the uni will consider my effort in studying and other stuffs. I got E D E D for 4 AS mock exams, predicted grades are B C D E. Then it turned out to be A B C D. I dropped English (D) later on so it’s like A B C, I tore my ACL and had surgery 1 month before the exam. Not exaggerating but I worked really hard along with doing knee rehab. I want to study Business Management and Marketing in AAA or AAB universities. Im taking SAT next month and in December and I’m looking for around 1800-1900. IELTS 7.0
I had a few businesses before (started when I was 15) and also doing R&D intern for a startup technology company. About my business, sole trader, monthly revenue is about 4k5 (profit ~ 30%). it might not be outstanding comparing to the US income but here in Southeast Asia, it’s a big deal (white collor workers are paid like 200-250 per month). Those are real experiences and I believe it can prove my passion for the course. I don’t know if they care about all those stuffs.
About EC, i dont worry much because I have recommender that is CMO of the company I work for summer internship and my business studies teacher, I founded a charity group but we had to put it on hold to focus on AS exams. And many other activities I don’t want to list. Just want to ask about the academic results

Leave your opinions below. I’m really appreciated it!!

You have little chance for admission if your SAT scores are in the 1800-1900 range.

thanks! im working on it right now.

1800-1900 SAT will be automatic rejection, especially from Wharton. You need at least a 2250+ as an international student.

^^ That is definitely not true. There is no such thing as ‘automatic rejection’, nor do you NEED a 2250 + in the SAT to be considered for Wharton. Definitely it will do you good, but its not a compulsion

thanks for your information. will i have any chances for it?

When Cornell’s admissions director visited my school, he said that since a large proportion of AEM students are recruited athletes and legacy students, the acceptance rate for normal students is about 8~9%. That’s a far reach for everyone so it will really be up to your essays to show why you should be admitted.

People say, “The only way you have 0 chances for any college is if you dont apply” So yes, you do have chances
IT will be an EXTREMELY difficult battle considering your low academics and scores. Plus, your an international. So to sum it up, you have chances, but itll be super tough

If the SATs are not well over 1800-1900 the essays will not matter.

Welcome to College Confidential!

You’re new here, so possibly you haven’t seen this thread. It’s written by an MIT Admissions Director, but holds true for Harvard, as well: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/939227-reminder-no-one-not-even-me-can-give-you-an-accurate-chance-at-mit-p1.html.

You sound like a wonderful candidate, as are the vast majority of students who will ultimately be rejected. With more academically qualified applicants than they have room for in their freshman class, Harvard uses a student’s essays, teacher recommendations, guidance counselor reports and interview reports to help them select individual’s who will make a difference on their campus. As you haven’t posted those items – nor should you – no one here can say what your chances are. If you haven’t already, please read this thread stickied to the top of the Harvard Forum: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1420290-chance-threads-please-read-before-posting-one-p1.html

Best of luck to you!

One additional note: a competitive SAT score for Harvard is 2100+, so that score is not going to help your chances.

"You sound like a wonderful candidate, as are the vast majority of students who will ultimately be rejected. "
@gibby you mean i look like people who would get rejected soon or person with potential to be accepted? sorry for my bad english and understanding.

Anyone please reply!

You should set your target schools realistically to match your profile. If you want to be in Boston, it will not be Harvard so instead look at Northeastern, Boston University, etc. if Philadelphia, not Wharton, but instead Drexel or Temple…

Do well as an undergraduate student and work hard for the graduate school with the “prestige” you desire.

thanks!
