Everything needs to be raised a bit, especially those test scores.

You haven’t really done anything in high school that shows interest in communications, so you need to have killer test scores and EC’s. You didn’t do any sports or that?

I got in last year with a 2030 SAT, 3.7 unweighted, top 5% class, and about 8 or 9 solid EC’s, including musical, wind ensemble, concert choir, and two varsity sports. No real dedication to communications shown in high school but I made up for it with my stats.

You could very well get in, but I think everything’s just on the average to low side for Newhouse applicants. Good luck!

Hey i am currently a freshman in the newhouse/cas dual program and i think you have some pretty solid stats although your gpa could use a little work. I had a 4.2 unweighted and pretty much the same sats, but with little higher of an act score. I think if you give them a great essay and really explain what your goals are who you are as a person you will have a great shot! Good Luck!

Thanks. My stats arent changing because Im not taking the ACTs or SATs again. My essay was frankly, amazing and I got my friend who graduated Syracuse last year to edit it and she knew what to say.

Also, Im in TV Production this year and have had leadership roles in Show Choir.

I got in with a 3.5 GPA and a 1880/2400 on my SAT’s. But I did have a pretty solid essay, a great interview, and showed a lot of interest by applying ED and going to SU Summer College between my junior and senior year. Make sure the essay is bomb and you should be pretty solid. Good luck!
