Then why do they ask for it? That's not directed towards you...it just seems odd that they'd even request it. In other words, I don't think they're being honest with you since the acceptance rate has finally dropped below 30% and they're going to be using all of your application to compare you with others.

I've heard that since it's the first year that SATIIs are required, they're not weighted heavily. It helps you if they're good, but it doesn't hurt you too much if they're not... almost like a positive grading system. Points if they're good, but you don't lose points if they're bad. Which means that someone with good SATIIs will still have an advantage... at least that's what I've heard

when did their acceptance rate drop below 30%? CB says it's 36%

CB says 36%. NYU's official site says 28%. http://admissions.nyu.edu/fast_facts/

CB has been wrong often lately, especially with regards to acceptance rates, so I don't trust it much.

hmm that's weird..i wonder why there's such a difference

One (36%) includes all Baccalaureate, Associate, Certificate, and Diploma programs. The other (28%) considers only traditional 4-year Baccalaureate programs.

i figure that SAT IIs this year won't penalize that much since this is the first year they use them. anyways they need to collect data over the years like colleges are doing with the writing portion of the SAT and ACT. its the only reason we have to take the writing portion for schools like NYU.

this is what i just think. at least what i hope because my SAT IIs and SATs aren't great. my ACT helps me actually
