Hello, I am a senior in southern California, in a small city close to LA. I am interested in going into environmental science, studies, or policy. I do not want to go far from home because of family issues, and I do not think I would enjoy being in a hugely populated college. I want a college where I can often have hands-on practice & opportunities and participate in related club activities.
I am an average student in my opinion with a 3.8 unweighted GPA. I am taking only 4 AP classes throughout my whole high school career, and my school only offers 5.
I joined my school’s Associated Student Body starting my junior year(Leadership) and had office that year and this year. I was in charge of the blood drive last year and this year I do daily morning PA announcements.
I’ve taken care of a stray cat family for about 6 years now
In Robotics club 2 years
In Go Green Club since sophomore year, didn’t hold office until now I am President!
Joined a Student Movement club against alcohol & drugs junior year only
in Upward Bound since Sophomore year
Joined California Scholarship Federation Junior year too
I am not in many clubs but I am able to explain why which is because of my family financial issues and transportation issues.
I am Salvadoran-Filipino,
I only have taken the new SAT w/writing once and I got 1140/1600… I’m going to take another SAT and one ACT though in October 2016 though.
What do you think are my chances of being accepted into Occidental College? Do you think there are other schools in the LA area that fit me as well and would accept me too?
Thank you SO MUCH.
