What are my chances for Phillips Andover/Phillips Exeter

Hello All,

I am currently a sophomore at a public high school in the state of Pennsylvania. Basically,

Grades:
In ninth grade, I was able to get A’s in all but one of my classes and the highest level course I took was AP Physics 1. However, I got a B+ in Pre Calc, which I know was a downgrading factor but I am hoping this year’s grades will compensate for that.
This year I am taking:
English 2 Honors
French 3 Honors
Chemistry 1 Honors
AP Calculus AB
AP US History
AP Statistics
AP Human Geography
I still haven’t gotten my first marking period grades as it is still the beginning of the school year

EC:
Extracurricular wise, I am very strong. I was on my school’s varsity debate team and I won third place at the state competition for extemporaneous speaking and I went to Washington for nationals. I didn’t tryout for debate this year as I was focusing on my application this year.I am also on my school’s Science Olympiad team and in 7th and 8th grade I have gone to nationals and in 8th grade, I was a national medalist in one event. In ninth, I won 5th in one event in the state competitions. I am also on my school’s FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) team in which recently I won at regionals and I went to the state competition last year. I also worked with a professor at Lehigh University on a therapeutic drug treatment for breast cancer patients. I used this research to compete at a local science fair competition and I won and was able to advance to the state level in which I won second place. I am also in my political science club (Model UN) and won the best delegate in two conferences in two of the local universities. I am also in some additional community service clubs. Lastly, I am a Boy Scout and I hold the rank of Star and I have won some awards within that.

Test Scores:
I got a 1440 on my PSAT/NMSQT test as a 9th grader. I heard if I could get above a 1450 I have a really good chance of getting in.

Letters of Rec:
Recommendation wise, I will be set up pretty strong as I have established strong connections with teachers in my grade, 11th, and 12th grade. I also will be able to get a recommendation letter from the University of Lehigh. I am the treasurer and secretary of my school’s UNICEF club. I was on the track team as a freshmen. I was on the jv team. Overall, that is the gist of what my 9th grade year looked like, so I just wanted to receive feedback on my current position and the path I should follow for a successful application.

I realized that 11th grade offers a very few amount of spots, but I wanted to say additionally I will not need financial aid. Also, I see that the school wants individuals that stand out and will bring something to the community and the world. From what I heard from people who went here, I heard you should get in contact with the coaches there, so I am going to see if I can get in with the sports and academic hook.

I have to say that I am impressed by your extra curriculars. They will definitely be noted during the admissions process. Your grades are fine but your SSAT score should reflect the caliber of the education you receive at school and at home.

Have you ever thought about applying as a repeat sophomore? You’d have better chances because more seats are available.

Regardless of where you go, I can already tell that your going to be successful. You’ve been involved in many extraordinary things.
