What are my chances for Plan II Honors at UT?

I'm applying to colleges next fall and UT is one of my top choices. I want to major in architecture (B.Arch) but I also want to get into a honors college (smaller, more intimate classes). I did some research and found out that I could get a dual Architecture/Art major under Plan II.

So here are my stats:

I realize that essays are weighted about 40% so there's no way you will be able to say if I'll get in or not. But am I the type of student they normally accept? And will I have a shot at the Forty Acres Scholarship (full ride) at UT? Thanks!

You have a great chance of getting in keep it up!

You’re obviously a very competitive candidate for both on stats alone. As you’ve noted, a lot of weight will be placed on subjective submissions via essays, expanded resume, letters of rec, etc.

I suggest you take full advantage of the Plan II website to help you prepare your application. If you follow all of the links, you’ll find it is incredibly “deep and wide” with constructive information and tips.

Hook 'em!

Thanks for the responses :)

I read somewhere that Plan II admission officers look for very well rounded students with interests in a lot of fields. Like perhaps an pre-law major whose also into music, or a bio major whose also on the varsity football team. Are my interests too narrow? Art is my “passion” but will it also be a disadvantage not to have wider interests?

I also want to clarify that it is a dual architecture and LIBERAL arts major. Not fine arts. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I would be surprised if you were declined admission from Plan II. Coming from a high school who sends 5-10 Plan II-ers to UT each year, your resume matches up well with what seems to be the “ideal” plan II student. Bare in mind though that Plan II exercises a much more holistic review of your application than general admissions. Your essays are extremely important and will receive close consideration - more so than statistics or listings of positions held or awards received.
