My GPA is a 3.0 out of 4.0 unweighted, I know really low, I was sick for most of my sophomore year, which I explained in my essay.

EC's include 4yr swim team, 3 yr golf team, Ski Club, Volunteer for many activities, Work experience for 3 years in a row at same place, and others

I think I have really good recommendations and a solid essay.

I am applying for regular decision, and I think it is a bit of a reach for me, but what do you think?

Hi 2011! I think UR is a little bit of a reach for you but it is certainly not out of reach. Your essay could put you over the top. Your GPA is low but if Jr. year shows considerable improvement and 1st sem Sr. you may be ok.

My recommendation would be for you or your school counselor ( hopefully your school has a relationship with UR admissions) to contact UR admissions and indicate that UR is your 1st choice school and how passionate you are about attending! Also include any positive updates for your application.

GORIRSH…comment: If it was her first choice, though, she would have gone EDI or EDII. So that story doesn’t quite work with admissions officers. I think the GPA will hurt, but if your essay addresses it, and if your JR/SR grades show a marked uptrend, that would be a positive. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I know my essay addressed my low GPA. I love Richmond, but I don’t exactly want to have to commit so early. If I get in regular decision, I think I will go, but I still want to keep my options open. I’m hoping for the best!
