I’m female, and a first-generation Vietnamese-American born in California. I attend a public school.

I applied as a Biological Sciences/Human Biology major to UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UCSD, and Stanford University. What are my chances?

Math 740
CR 780
Writing 770

SAT II
Math IIC: 770
Literature 700

GPA: 4.4 weighted, 3.97 UW
My high school doesn’t rank, but I know I’m at least in the top 10 students of my class.

(summer after sophomore year: Calculus 1A, 1B, 1C & English 1A at a local community college—all A grades, but that doesn’t really make the much of a difference)

My school doesn’t have very many AP classes. Don’t you love budget cuts?

Senior:
- Calculus BC AP
- Government
- Microeconomics AP
- British Literature
- French 5 AP
- Biology AP
- (non-academic: TA for Physiology & Biology classes)

AP tests:

- AP Calc BC: 5

(Yes, I took a lot of the tests before I took the classes. I do a lot of studying over summer—I still needed to take the classes to fulfill graduation requirements, though)

Community service: 500+ hours
- Worked at homeless shelters and other programs relating to poverty; worked as an editor for an entire summer (~100+ hours) for a program that puts books into an audio format for the visually impaired; also things for Interact, Key Club, National Honor Society, CSF (typical high school stuff).

Other leadership positions:
- Co-president, Activities Coordinator, and Webmaster for Interact Club (10-12th grade)
- Associated Student Body website creator-- technology commissioner
- Instructor for taekwondo (1 year—1st dan black belt after 5 years)
- Also went to a week-long leadership camp on a scholarship for training

“Sports” (I put this in quotes because I hardly think one of these qualifies as a real sport)
- (see above re: taekwondo) Taekwondo for 5 years – 1st dan black belt [demonstration team that traveled for 4 years]—competed in over 12+ state and local tournaments
- Varsity badminton (10-12th grade)

Awards:
- Technological device building challenge – best looking advice, 2nd best web journal (Sophomore year)
- Gold Award for French (the high school award gives this award to the pupil who excelled in French) (Junior year)
- Those typical golden state exam awards. Blah blah blah
- Other awards that are too insignificant to mention here.

Recommendations from my physiology teacher & french teacher.

I already know I got into UCLA (w/ honors), UCI (w/ honors), UCSD, and UC Davis.

MUCH THANKS FROM A VERY HOPEFUL GIRL!

You have great chances for all the UCs, I'd be surprised if you didn't get in...
As for Stanford... you can only wait, eat chocolate, and meanwhile consult your tarot cards. Nobody can really tell.
