What are my chances for these 7 schools?

I know there must be an endless amount of people desperately wondering the same, but if anyone has the time, I'd appreciate the opinions.

I'm a senior, and I am applying to Harvard, Princeton, UPenn, Columbia, Dartmouth, GWU, and Bowdoin. I've already been accepted to Fordham.
What are my chances for these schools?

my weighted average is about 94, my highest sat in a single sitting is 2020, but I'm getting my most recent scores back tomorrow. My highest of each section is
math-720
reading-670
writing-650
My AP scores are nothing to rave about

I am a member of national honor society, newspaper, fragments, and mock trial
I take 4 APs this year, one honors, and one college class
While my academics suffice, I believe my personal life shows the depth and breadth of my accomplishments
I have had fibromyalgia since I was 10, and it went undiagnosed until March 2010, so "fibro-fog"-inability to think straight due to fibromyalgia-has affected my grades. Since I started on treatment, however, my grades have improved.
I have had endometriosis since I was 13, and it went undiagnosed until I was 14. Few doctors believed me
Today I work very hard to live a healthy and positive life. So I do find it a blessing =)

What is most interesting, however, is my hobby. I sew, and I do many interesting things, but my dream, my passion, my devotion, is to politics.
I have been a member of Young Republicans since I was 14. I am the youngest member. The rest are in their 20s and 30s, and they are my close friends. They made me Youth Committee chair when I was 15. Now that I'm 18, they are making me 2nd VP. I was the head volunteer for a state senatorial candidate when I was 15, I was the assistant to a county legislative candidate when I was 16, and for about 7 months, I have been interning for a many-term state senator. By the end of the summer, my internship was over, but they were happy to have me stay to help out in both the campaign and district office. Over this time I have helped countless other candidates. I have met my heroes in politics. This all started during my battle with endo, when I watched the News all day and fell in love with it. I have been republican by choice since I was 8.

I have had interviews with Harvard, Princeton, and GWU. All went very very well. At the best, the Harvard interview, the woman explicitly said "Harvard would be lucky to have you."

I want Harvard more than anything for so many reasons, and I was wondering if I could have an idea of what people think. Thank you!

High reaches at all the ivies and match at GW. If you get a 2200+ on your SAT that would help you significantly. What’s your unweighted average (4.0 scale preferably)? I have no idea what a 94 weighted average translates to.

Your passion for politics seems nice but that alone won’t compensate for less than spectacular SAT scores (comparative to ivy league standards anyways). Take everything you hear with a grain of salt (that includes what the Harvard interviewer said, I’m sure plenty of people have heard the same thing).

Thank you for the advice!
My unweighted average is a 90 I think
I totally know what you mean. I’m really hoping my SATs go up significantly. My political passion has also translated to a lot of success for my age, so I was hoping it would be enough haha.
I’ve heard some people say I’m “guaranteed in”, which I’ve always doubted, and others tell me what I’ve heard is near meaningless, so it would make sense the truth is inbetween. Some people have already been rejected from some ivies, so I’m hoping I have a relatively-okay chance haha
The alumnus from Princeton said that they are looking for Jews (yay), so I’m hoping that will aid me as well haha

Overcoming your illness is a feat in it of itself, so be proud of that. You may be surprised at how much colleges value students who are outspoken in politics. My dad was a mediocre student-A’s, B’s, a few C’s, and no more than maybe 1150 SAT. He was, however, very involved in Young Republicans and county politics, and actually held a county governmental position at the age of 18. He asked some of the politicians he worked for to call colleges for him, and was accepted to University of Pennsylvania.

Thank you!
That’s amazing! I’m glad your dad is Republican too haha =D
Though I haven’t yet held a county position, I know nearly every Republican politician in my county haha. 2 politicians have written me a letter of rec, and the state senator I worked for is going to give me one soon.
I hope the same translates for me! I’m glad to see, even if I don’t get in, that colleges value political aspirations, especially Liberal colleges valuing republicans =D

You are a “clear admit” case.

^ In my opinion.

Overall, you have as much chance as the rest of us. A lot will depend on your essays for the Ivy League schools. That said, assuming your essays are good but not spectacular (if they’re spectacular, these results will be better!)

Harvard: reach (for everybody)
Princeton: rfe
UPenn: low reach
Columbia: rfe
Dartmouth: low reach
GWU: IN
Bowdoin: this choice surprises me but low reach

Harvard: reach
Princeton: reach
UPenn: low reach
Columbia: low reach
Dartmouth: low reach
GWU: in
Bowdoin: high match

Good luck!! I hope you get in everywhere you want to go!

Chance me back?

Being brutally honest, Harvard, which appears to be your first choice, is high reach. You have average scores and your extracurricula are nothing special as you have not excel in them by receiving national awards, etc. Your personal story is impressive but I have read (and evaluated thousands of applications for scholarships at the institution I used to work)so many stories of aplicants with equally compelling personal stories that it is not really something that would boost your chance…As for having interned at you state senators office, there are multiple students who did the same x number of state senators x 50 states+DC+Guam+PR. There are also students who did the same at US senators/representative offices. You would have been better applying to an all women’s college like Wellesley, or Mt Holyoke. It would have definitely provided you with better personal skills for what you want to do.
At least until 10 years ago, most female US senators had graduated from women’s colleges. I am not sure what it is now.

Harvard: high reach
Princeton: high reach
UPenn: low reach
Columbia: low reach
Bowdoin: low reach
Dartmouth: low reach
GWU: in

Thank you all for the advice! It is very much appreciated.
Not to seem haughty, but my essays may be better than average, because my father is an English teacher and he scolds me for poor grammar haha
It is funny you mention that, Ana1, because I have been looking into colleges that senators addented. I hadn’t thought to check specifically for female senators. I will definitely look into it. Thank you! I understand what you mean
Thanks everyone!

A lot of these replies are wrong…

With a GPA + SAT below the average at top schools, your chances are slim to none. Although your ECs do show a passion, there is nothing spectacular about of them. In my honest opinion:

Harvard: Out of reach (very high reach)
Princeton: Same as Harvard
UPenn: Reach
Columbia: Same as Harvard
Dartmouth: Reach
GWU: Not aware of this school
Bowdoin: Same as GWU

With admission rates that are dropping below 6%, your chances look very small at the top schools (HYPSM + Ivy Leagues). Actually, Harvard’s and Columbia’s acceptance rates are extremely low this year. Do not expect admission into either.

However, no one here can truly give you a chance since we don’t know everything about you, and after all, we aren’t admissions officers. Just apply- you have nothing to lose.

Best of luck with your admissions.

My gpa and SATs aren’t out of range for these schools. My Math and Writing section are in range, my reading is 20 pts below range, and my total sat is in range.
My interviews with Harvard, Princeton, GWU, and Dartmouth seemed very promising, though naturally I am still uncertain.
I used to think my chances were slim, but it seems as though I may have a chance. The interviews have all gone incredibly well, and they said I definitely have a chance.
You haven’t heard of GWU (george washington university? haha it’s okay, I had not heard of Bowdoin before my college search.

I know that the admission rate has been very very low. It worries me haha

I applied, and I’m really hoping.
Thank you!

I think my grades and scores are ordinary for someone of Ivy level, but what will set me apart is my political experience, citations from well-known politicians, my advanced standing in politics in my county, etc. I’m just hoping haha

Your SATs really are below range for Ivies. The people who are admitted with those scores are athletes, development cases, legacies and URMs. Unhooked people with those scores just don’t get in.

And whatever alum from Princeton told you they’re “looking for Jews” - do you seriously think they have a shortage of Jewish applicants?

I know what you mean. I haven’t met many Harvard applicants, but that might make sense. But I am in the middle 25-75% range, which is what made me think otherwise

No need to be hostile. I’m just repeating what i was told. I was quite puzzled as to what she said as well

I would say all of your Ivies are going to be a reach to some degree, although the other schools could be matchs for you. Good luck.

Chance me?

Thank you!
Of course, for almost all applicants ivies are reaches. By no means to I believe I am guaranteed anything
