What are my chances for these schools?

First off, I’m first generation, and I think this is why I’m really insecure about what I have to offer.

So, I have a 3.8 GPA and an ACT of 25, I’m also the 3rd in my class. I’ve taken a college course in Japanese. I’m in the full IB diploma program.

I’ve been working twenty hours a week for four years now which is why I have very little EC’s. I’ve only been in the art club, book club and NHS.

Because of NHS I plan on doing fourty hours of community service. I’ve also been to an IB world conference.

I don’t really have much to offer after this. I mean, I can say that I’ve been writing since I was five. If I can, I would double major in anthropology and possibly accounting. I also want to minor in Japanese or Creative Writing.

Other plans might be to start up my own little shop selling handmade jewelry. I want to write and publish my series one day.

But yeah…that’s it!

So, am I just beating myself down?

Here are some schools in looking into:

Uni of Wisconsin-Madison
Uni of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of Illinois-Champaign
University of Rochester
Miami University (Oxford)
Duke University
Boston University
DePaul University

Um, I’m Hispanic, female and my family of 6 makes 13,000, so money is a huge concern.

Thank you!

I don’t know why you are applying to so many expensive schools because your test scores make your chances of getting merit based aid VERY slim. Improve that test score!! You definitely will not get into Michigan, Wisconsin, or Duke with that score. However, your race and essay could really improve your chances.

You could definitely get into these schools if you get your ACT up! That should be first priority right now

Work on getting your ACT up, especially for merit scholarships! And make sure you have stellar essays; oftentimes at the most selective schools, the essays are what make or break an applicant.
