USC
Wake Forest
UNC-CH
Rice
UCLA
Syracuse

What are my chances?

Unfortunately, you look like the typical high-SAT asian with ECs all over the place. It will all depend on your essays and recs, where you will hopefully demonstrate your focus and potential. Assuming average essays,

MIT (reach)
UChicago - reach
Duke - reach
Penn - reach
Stanford - reach
Cornell - low reach
Columbia - reach
USC - match
Wake Forest - low match
UNC-CH - high match
Rice - high match
UCLA - match
Syracuse - match

Essays - average to good
Recommendation letters - amazing

TBH, that SAT score isn’t in the high range really. Only chancing the schools I know about.

MIT (reach)
UChicago - reach
Duke - low reach
Penn - reach
Stanford - reach
Cornell - low reach
Columbia - reach
USC - match
UCLA - match

From you list, your matches are USC and below (minus Rice)

Your SAT is a little bit on the low end, but you will still reach:
UChicago
Duke
USC
UCLA
and maybe Columbia-they look for really good essays to cover up the SAT score ^ ^

As reported on the government’s college navigator site http://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/:

Admittance Rates <=10%
MIT
Stanford
Columbia

Admittance Rates 10-<=20%
Chicago
Duke
Penn
Cornell
USC
Rice

Admittance Rates 20-<=30%
UCLA

Admittance Rates 30-<=40%
Wake Forest
UNC-CH

Admittance Rates >40%
Syracuse

The painful truth is that most of your schools need to be considered reaches; certainly any school with an admit rate <=20% needs to be looked at that way. When schools reject more than 80% of applicants things can get very quirky. Scan the boards here and you’ll find people being rejected with your stats while others with lower numbers are getting accepted.

Also, UNC-CH and UCLA are very popular with out-of-state applicants so while your statistics are competitive, the admit rates at those schools are much lower for OOS. Syracuse is the only outright safety on your list.

Having said all that, my guess is you’ll get into Syracuse, Wake, probably UCLA & USC, maybe UNC and maybe Rice.
