What are my chances for top 5?

Currently a Junior at UT Austin, major in Corporate Communication, certificate in Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Total GPA: 3.90 (if this number posts redundantly, sorry, on mobile and formatting is sketchy)
Other institutions include some community college classes (4.0), American University (4.0), Cambridge (4.0), and the Chinese institution where I studied (Yunnan Normal University).

Internships:
MIT (public policy office in DC) in 2016
Congress in 2016
Local law firm in 2015

GPA is a bit low since I did a summer immersion program in China to speak fluently and got a B-.

Planning to take 6 months after graduation for intensive LSAT study with a tutor and work experience. I’m aiming for a 175LSAT. Not sure how realistic that is though.

What are my projected chances right now? Am I still on track even though my GPA took a hit? My university doesn’t offer A+ grades.
This year I’m planning on doing research and next summer I’m hoping to go to Africa to volunteer.

Top choices are:

  1. Harvard
  2. Stanford
  3. Yale

Please tell me what you think, thanks! Also, does the LSAC go off of the number grade or the letter grade on your transcript? As far as I’m aware my community college gave me an A on my transcript for a 92% in Chinese. They didn’t post the number, so will it be counter as an A since that’s what’s listed? I counted it as an A in my calculations for that reason since I’m not sure my institutions actually have a record of the specific score, only the letter grade.

Thanks again!

Obviously, if you have a 3.9 GPA and a 175 LSAT you can anticipate admission at a top law school. I don’t think you needed to post on here to learn that … I’d venture to say that you’re looking for something else out of CC than prediction… be careful, this “game” can chew you up and spit you out. Just relax and focus on the LSAT. You’re much better off meeting people and growing as a person than contorting yourself to fit law school admission committees’ desires. It’ll do you a world of good in the long run.

80+% chance at every school from HLS on down. YLS and SLS look at all kinds of other things.

@whocurzbruh Thanks, I appreciate your response! I’m of course looking for general advice in addition to people’s opinions on my chances. The 175 number is sort of a hopeful projection, but purely speculative, so really I was more concerned about the GPA bit (particularly if it gets recalculated and how that might change things depending on transcript listing). Sorry, I’m not sure which game you mean? Could you be more specific? I’ve spent more of my time doing things I enjoy this year, which I didn’t really expand upon my post since I think there’s a big emphasis on numbers with law school admissions. In any case, I really appreciate your perspective! Thanks

@bluebayou Thanks!

If you think you are smart enough to go to a T5 school, you should be smart enough to know that law school is basically purely based on your GPA + LSAT. You can use this filter to get a great look at where you stand: https://officialguide.lsac.org/Release/UGPALSAT/UGPALSAT.aspx
