I’m applying as a Finance major at the Wharton School for Penn ED.
GPA (UW): 3.86 (previously taken 8 APs, now taking 5, so 13 total) at a competitive public high school that sends 20+ students to highest ranked schools each year (Stanford, JHU, Duke, MIT, Caltech…)
ACT: 33 (strongest in english, weakest in science)
I scored 5s in most of my APs with the exception of 4s in micro and macro econ, and a 3 for physics 1.
ECs are okay in my opinion, although I’m not sure how they look for Penn:
-VP of Finance for DECA
-Editor and business manager for school newspaper
-Volunteered as an english teacher at a school in China every summer for past 3 years
-Varsity tennis for 4 years, received academic state award, team won state championship
-President of UNICEF club
-Founder and president of a club to help students with SAT/ACT
-National Honor Society
-peer tutor at my school
-Board member for a teen volunteer council in my community
-worked as a barista at a coffee shop this summer (should i even put this on my resume for penn?)
I think my essays are decent, definitely not great; i did have a college counselor who helped my friend get into Penn last year look at it, and i think she liked them.
I’ll also be applying to UC Berkeley, boston u, columbia, and some others RD. If any of you have feedback on my ED chances for Penn and for these schools, please let me know!
