UCs use "UC GPA" so you will need to recalculate using only 10th and 11th grade UC-approved A-G courses. Find your school here: https://doorways.ucop.edu/list/servlet.jsf;jsessionid=2D3807AEA9435930A3635C3D3DBDFBDC?_flowExecutionKey=_c42235BCE-04C2-C16F-3DCF-A7CA890831CE_k9D3D4606-E973-D0A7-F5D9-FF4EB9935ADB to see which of your 10th and 11th grade courses will be used. Next, calculate your GPA according to the formula found about halfway down the following webpage: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/scholarship_reqs.html

Then, compare your stats to the 2008 UC freshman profiles to see how you stack up: University of California - Admissions

I think you have a good shot at all the UC's.

Considering your UC gpa > 4.10

UCB: match
UCLA: match
UCSD: low-match

I think the UC gpa will be lower - I don't think the business courses will turn out to be on the A-G course list - which are the only courses used for UC gpa. (Only UC-approved A-G courses, no P.E. or non-academic courses, and for weighting - only AP and UC-approved honors courses. The GPA needs to be recalculated.)

The GPAs I calculated only included my sophomore and junior grades :]
but based on the information i provided, do you think i have a good chance at UCLA?

Principles of Bus, Bus Law, Intl Bus, and Money/Banking are on your high school's UC-approved course list?

Principles of Business isn't. It serves as a introduction to International Business and Money & Banking.

The latter two and Business Law are all UC-approved.

I heard that the UC GPA only includes 8 semesters of H and APs...

I have 10... so now my UC GPA is only 4.0 :[ That's not good...

Yesh I do believe you have a good shot at UCLA and CAL. My GPA is 4.0 also, but my subject scores are pretty weak and my SAT I score is 1930, I'm retaking them in oct. and nov., hopefully improving.

I also am aiming for the high UC's

Question:

University of California -- Admission states their students' GPAs as "high school GPA"... So is that the UC GPA or the normal weighted GPA (counting all H/AP courses)?

It is the UC GPA.

I'd say you have an ok shot at Berkeley and UCLA, and a good shot at San Diego. You might consider taking the SAT I's again though.

Chinese isn't your first language, is it? If it's not, those are some pretty awesome test scores, so you should make sure colleges know it's not your first language! ;)

Chinese is actually my first language. I came to America when I was young, and I didn't want to lose it, so I took H and AP in high school.

Retake the SAT Reasoning Test? Hm... I always thought that my GPA was too low because my SAT scores are above the accepted average for all UCs.

Aww...darn. Well those are still pretty amazing Chinese achievements. :)

Well raising your GPA would be good too...I'd say your chances at Berkeley and LA would increase quite a bit if either your GPA or your SAT I score went up a bit. So focus on one of them. Good luck!

Bump. Can anyone else chance me?
