<p>I have an unweighted GPA of 3.3 and a SAT of 1830. I have quite a few extracurricular activities. I'm also hoping the fact that I'm African American will help my chances. What do you guys think?

<p>you can give it a shot,you never know u may ba accepted.But you have to remember applicant pools are very competitive especially in recognised schools</p>
<p>You have to give us more info. But your SAT scores could use some bumping up. Your GPA is out of your hands now, so you can’t do anything about it.</p>
<p>I think you have an outside chance. You may be more in line for UCSC, UCR, or UCM. Your URM status is definitely a plus! There was a really great article about UCR and their African American student body. UCR has the highest percentage of Black students compared to all the UC campuses and graduates a higher percentage of Black students compared to White students of late. </p>

<p>The UCs and CSUs are forbidden by state law from considering an applicant’s race or ethnicity in the admission process or employing any type of affirmative action. The fact that you are an African American will be of no benefit to you. Your GPA of 3.3 is well below the average for accepted students at UCI and as a result I think your chances of acceptance there are poor. You are more competititive for UC Riverside or UC Merced.</p>
