What are my chances for UCR?

Hello Everyone.

I am currently a high school junior with a GPA of 3.4 (I can get it to 3.6 by the end of the year) and I wanna know what are my chances of getting into UCR? I have decent extra curriculars and I am taking the SAT in June. If I do good on the SAT how high my chances will be? I am also applying for a biology major.

Thanks

I also have good number of AP classes

First you will need to calculate your UC GPA (capped weighted): https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Without test scores and your UC GPA it is difficult to determine how you compare.

Here is the UC Riverside Freshman profile for 2017. You want to be at or above the averages for the best chances. Also intended major will have a big impact on your chances and since Biology is a competitive admit, a UC GPA of 4.0 or higher would increase your chances.

Remember you will be evaluated on the whole package: UC GPA, test scores, EC’s, HS course rigor and essays.

GPA and test scores of middle 25%-75% students for 2017 and not major specific:

High School GPA (capped weighted): 3.60 - 4.04
ACT Composite Score: 23 - 30
ACT English Language Arts: 22 - 28
SAT Evidence Based Reading & Writing: 550 - 640
SAT Mathematics: 540 - 670
SAT Essay: 14 - 18

Freshman admit rates for 3.40-3.79 capped weighted UC GPA: 63.3%
Freshman admit rates for 3.80-4.19 capped weighted UC GPA: 90.1%

  • Riverside

  • Very important: Academic GPA, Application essay, Rigor of secondary school record, Standardized test scores
  • Considered: Character/personal qualities, Extracurricular activities, First generation college student, State residency, Talent/ability, Volunteer work, Work experience
  • Note: A fixed weight point system comprehensive review model that culminates in an Academic Index Score to determine admission for incoming freshmen.

As the UC’s continue to become more competitive each year, you need to apply widely and do not focus just on one school.

Best of luck.
