What are my chances for UCSD transfer?

@nujabes29, I was scared that something like is going to come up and it just a matter of time before someone suggest me to stay another year. Honestly speaking I do not want to stay for another year, I spent my summer taking 2 classes so I be able to apply this Fall.
This Friday, I will meet up with my transfer counselor and will see what happen. My judgment day is on Friday.

Well you can always apply this year and see what happens. You’ll only lose $60 if you apply to one UC.

HOwever, with a UC transferable GPA below a 3.0 you won’t get in anywhere man. If you can still stay for another year (if you still can take classes that would benefit your major - prereqs) you should really, really consider it.

If you’re eager to leave home, apply to UCR, UCM, UCSC, and the lower tier CSU’s. You’ll get most of those schools.

Also, TAG at UCSD (whether impacted or not) only guarantee’s you a spot in the school. I’m not sure you can even TAG into an impacted major…

and take this advice, some people made it seem like ‘oh yeah just tag and you’re auto in’ --true if all required details have been met–buuut im glad you did the research to figure out all these minor prerequisites.

you will need the mature mindset for those classes you seem to be struggling with. ask yourself months from now, even if you got accepted; are you really ready for upper division material if you are still having difficulty with lower division?

gL

So basically I cannot tag, so I asked the UCSD representatives, they said they also consider Fall GPA so I do have a chance. I am taking 5 classes right now. If I get 3 As and 2 Bs, my overall GPA would be 3.20. I checked Statfinder and the percentage of acceptance of Engineering for UCSD is 64.7% GPA 3.20 - 3.39. This is for 2009. So do you guys think I still have a chance?

Mech engineering, I’m not sure. I just know last year they told me 3.23 for computer engineering and were very firm. Will you be done with any prereqs or IGETC? Sorry TLDR lol.

Why not apply to UCSB, UCI, UCR? They’re all great schools too! UCI and UCSB are nice and near the beach, too. :)

Also: At the other schools, consider applying to a different major. Depending on the UC you can attend a quarter or a semester and then tell them you’d like to be a Mech engineer instead. (Math major, physics major, comsci majors are doable with similar prereqs in many cases!)
