Here's my information:
Freshman year:
total of 16 A's (all regular classes)

Sophomore year:
total of 12 A's and 2 B's (two honors classes and two accelerated)

Junior year (three AP classes, one honors):
first semester:
3 A's
2 B's
and a C

second semester:
5 A's
1 B

PSAT score: 2090
SAT score: 2050 (I will retake)
Chinese SAT score: 780

Aside from school, I have a good music extra-curricular list, such as having done professional opera with the San Jose Opera Company, the Regional, All-State and National ACDA Honor Choir Program, plus more than 6 years in choir outside of school (school choir since freshman year). I have been told that these music activities will give me an advantage because I plan to major in music.
I've also been told that, by looking at my grades in junior year, the improvement from first semester to second semester will help.

But since I got the C in junior year first semester, is it still possible that I can get in UCSD?

Any advice would be largely appreciated. Thanks!

And also, I got the C in AP Spanish class

the C is definitely going to hurt you, but if you’re majoring in music it shouldnt be too bad

dear alfawarlord,
I talked to the admissions office in UCSD, and they said that for music they place it on the same table for evaluation along with the other majors

I would say it is a high match for you…apply to safety schools

Calculate your CSU/UC GPA with this link: <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;
The C’s will not help. Your SAT is good. Your GPA should be 3.9+ to have a chance.

Dear Gumbymom, I used the link you sent me and got a 4.04. Is that a high match, match, or fair chance?

@christinachen: I would call that a Match since you plan to pursue Music. Good Luck with your application.

New update: I am anticipating to join one a capella group next year, do 3 Honor Choir Programs (regional, all-state and national if I make the auditions), two choirs, a leadership conference for singers (where singers learn to sing, theory, etc), and 1-2 theatrical performances. Does that sound like solid activities set for senior year (in terms of music)?
