I have a 1390 SAT, 4.22 weighted GPA, 3.58 unweighted GPA
JV Cross Country, Track and field, boy scouts (first class/star rank), aviation club (president)
300+ volunteering hours mainly with Habitat for Humanity
I’m a junior in a high ranking MD high school, White, male, income bracket 100K+
Can anyone give me some idea of whether I would get in or not? I saw the freshman admissions profile but I don’t know how much the admissions officers weight everything, like do family circumstances matter at all? Thanks.
Looks good to me. Though certain programs that have an outlier selectivity might be an issue. Do talk to your counselor about this. The school counselors are the best in knowing the state and local school-issues, I’ve found. Especially, how they impact kids in their own .
Apply early, as selectivity can increase as the app season gets rolling.
My son’s stats were similar to the OP’s stats but he had a few more extracurriculars (wrestling captain for 2 years, intern for elected official, part-time job, etc.) and attended a STEM magnet school. He was accepted to UMD in the freshmen connection program and will be attending in the fall. I’m not sure if mom and dad being Terps was a factor. If you want to go to UMD, I cannot recommend enough that you apply early action. They accept the vast majority of their students early action. That deadline is November 1.
