What are my chances for UMD?

Hi,
I’m a senior and have already begun applying, but I’m curious about my chances. I am interested in pursuing a MIS major (Business and Tech) I am interested in UMD Smith school of Business. I am not sure how strong my application is for the school but, I am hoping for the best. I am applying as an out-of- state .

Basic Stats:
Weighted GPA: 3.48 - I have personal reason for why my GPA was quite low freshmen and sophomore. I did however mention in my application that I show great growth my junior and my year as it was a 4.0.

ACT: 31
ACT Writing: 8

AP Classes:
9 total; plus one DE and the rest were honors unless there was only an option for academic.

-AP scores:

AP World History 4
AP English Lang 3
AP US History 3
AP Environmental : 3
Rest of the exams I will be taking at the end of this year!

ECs-
FTC Robotics Team - Team captain (Awards: Dean’s List Semi-Finalist, competed at Worlds, and top team within my state)
FBLA: Awards- Competed at Nationals and placed within my state
I am the founder and co-founder of to STEM organizations within my region. (For personal reasons I can’t say the names)
Odyssey of the Mind - Team captain (Awards: 1st place regional and competed in states)
JV field hockey for 2 yr (Awards: placed 2nd at finals)
volunteer experience predominantly in STEM (200+ hours)

Foreign Language Proficiency:
I can speak 3 other languages apart from english.

I just want to know what my chances are as my confidence is slightly low due to my GPA. I don’t want my circumstances just to seem like an excuse and my GPA increase both from junior year and senior year (current grades) do reflect this. Any information would be helpful!

No one can really chance you, so just go for it! Your ECs are excellent. What county do you live in?

I actually am from America.

sorry for all the grammatical errors, I was kinda in a rush! ?

Will you be applying for priority admission (deadline is November 1)? I think UMD-College Park is a low reach for you. Have you considered UMBC in Baltimore County or UM-Shady Grove? One can transfer to UMD-College Park after two years at UMBC or Shady Grove. Do apply; good luck.

I will be applying for priority admissions. Thank you for the suggestions I truly do want to take a realistic approach to it and I will consider the transfer idea! Given my application would PENN State be a better option to consider?

The test scores and GPAs stats for the incoming freshmen at Penn State are slightly lower than those for UMD, but I think that you, being in-state, might have an advantage at UMD. Your talents in languages and robotics are notable; do apply to UMD, and to other schools.

UMD is more competitive for out of state than for in-state. They have to admit a certain percentage from in-state, so not as many spots for OOS students. Also, the B-School at UMD is competitive and not sure how easy it would be to transfer in. What’s your instate flagship? Start there and then build your list.
