What are my chances for USC,NYU,VT

I applied to Southern Cal and NYU both for their film programs. As backups I applied to Virginia Tech and James Madison University.

1790 SAT
3.7 GPA

4 Years of Football with 2 state championships
Key Club Member
Tons of Community Service.
4 AP classes

While all that may not seem strong I wrote very good essays. My parents are both from Afghanistan and moved here because of the war. I wrote about experiences that most people don't get to have. I just want to know if I have any shot for USC or NYU I know its a long shot but those colleges have to accept some low SATs. And also everyone else on this forum tries to damn hard for example "I got a 2390 SAT 4.5 GPA take 100 AP's OMG OMGOMG can I get in OMG" Like seriously stop bragging.

Did NYU/Southern Cal require a portfolio? If so, they obviously play quite a factor making admission chances hard to determine for us. For the film programs, Your ECs don’t really show an interest in film, or stand out in general…

Your sat is mediocre, and so is your GPA.

Virgina Tech and James Maddison seem fine.

NYU and Southern seem like a bit of a reach, just because I’m not sure what the film program requires, though I assume it’s competitive

Yeah I had a feeling my stats are out of reach. I did show a lot of interest in film on my portfolio about what I’ve done and what not. I feel like my portfolio is excellent although stat wise I am not. I was just wondering if there are anomalies in the selection process were someone with my stats may get in on rare occasions.

Yeah, there are definitely exceptions in which someone with low stats does get in - that’s were essays, film resume, recommendations, and passion comes into play. : ]

Do you have a link to some of your film/portfolio? I’m actually considering majoring in film production (I’m a junior high school film student), and would love to see the calibre of other peoples portfolios!

Anyway, goodluck!
