Senior, Low gpa 2.7 weighted, 2.4 unweighted(Laziness destroyed me). Passed AP US history test and the AP Human geography tests, I've always taken an ap class or 2 for my first 3 years, now im taking 4 Ap classes this year (may be 3 as i am unsure if i can handle Ap calculus)
My first SAT i got a 1500, planning on taking my next one soon and am aiming for a much higher score now that i have some practice books and all.
I have required community service hours, although i lack in extracurriculars. My original plan was relying on getting a high SAT score as i've noticed most universities in Florida don't really require pretty high SAT score.
So what do you think are my chances? Be honest.
I also were thinking if i were to go and just do a community college plan and transfer to Usf would it be better to just go for Valencia (in my area) or Hillsborough community college (already in Tampa)

And lastly, if you were failing an AP class, and i mean badly would you transfer into the honors version? Or should i consult the teacher because i am unsure on what i should do with this AP Calculus, prides getting in the way of my decision but my grades are hurting.

USF is a high reach (even the less selective St. Pete campus), due to your GPA. Below are the stats for 2012 enrolled Freshman:

Enrollment— 3,276— 2,801— 475
Average GPA --3.88---- 3.94— 3.56
Average SAT-- 1191— 1209— 1072
Mid-range SAT 1110-1270 1130-1280 1000-1120

Going to CC is a great plan, and many students go this route. Valencia is fine, no need to move to Tampa for CC.

If you go the CC path, then failing AP Calc is not the end of the world. See if you can pull your grade up before the end of the year. If you can score a 3 on the AP Test, that’s one less class you have to take at CC. On the other hand, you don’t want to kill yourself! Only you can make this call.

With your AP’s, you may be able to get your AA early, and then transfer to USF (at this point, it’s your CC GPA that matters, not your HS).

Good Luck!

And of course, staying and home and completing your AA at CC will save you a ton of money and debt! :)

I hope this dosen’t count as necroing, but i forgot to ask even though i know my chances may stay the same, but any thing any one can recommend that i could change or do , i want to apply any ways.

bump just want to know any other opinions

Valencia is ranked as one of the best community colleges in the country. You’re better off getting your AA at Valencia and then transferring. Your GPA is way too low for USF.

From USF website:
High school GPAs for the middle 50 percent of freshman admitted in Fall 2011 were between 3.64-4.22.

In Fall 2012, SAT and ACT scores for admitted freshman were:
SAT: 1130 - 1280 (Critical Reading + Math only)
