I am applying to UT Austin as an electrical engineering major and im in state. What are my chances of getting into this major and college?
They seem pretty darn good to me.
Match. Your new SAT is the highest out of all the scores so I’d only submit that. Electrical engineering is the easiest major to get into at Cockrell so that improves your chances. Your SAT makes up for your class rank not being in the top 7%
Being outside of the auto admit range will put you at a huge disadvantage assuming you’re in state. I would treat it as a reach.
Edit- send all of your scores. UT will use whichever one gives you a higher AI, and since we don’t know the score breakdown it’s impossible to know which one that would be.
Rank is considered a very important factor to UT, so that may hurt you. However, your scores and EC’s look good so make sure to write good essays.
UT Austin should be viewed as a reach for non-automatic-admit applicants (automatic admit applicants take up about three quarters of the class). Even more so if you are applying for a competitive major.
