4.0 UW GPA, class rank #1, ACT 27. Four years pep and symphonic band, two years jazz band. For years forensics, State competitor in forensics, silver- all state award both years. Four years varsity football and varsity track and field. Volunteer with Special Olympics and several food shelves. Also, community recreation volunteer. Worked 20 hrs a week for past year as well. Grandfather attended UW. Two great referrals and spent a lot of time on my essays. I have also made a couple visits to campus.

Your ACT isn’t great, but it does place you in the mid-50. GPA is good, but did you take a “rigorous course load” as Madison calls it? Honestly, it’s hard to say whether or not you’d get in without knowing some of your classes.

If you apply by Oct 31, you’re good.
Where else are you applying? (ALWAYS have back ups! UWisconsin - Eau Claire’s Honors program is quite good, as are Lawrence and Beloit. The last two wouldn’t be safeties but matches, but Eeau Claire’s Honors program would be quite a good safety).
Did you run the net price calculator on UWi’s website? What did your parents say when you brought them the results?

Since you’re a WI resident, your chances are quite high. If you do get wait listed, you’ll probably still get in. My D1’ had several friends last year who I think she said had 27’s and they all got in, though some were first wait listed.

I have taken the hardest classes my school offers and all AP classes offered.

I’ve already been accepted to the U of Minnesota.

So UMN is your back up, right? Have you applied to/been invited to Honors?

I’ve been accepted to the Honors program at Iowa State, so either Minnesota or Iowa State will be my back up. I do have a friend who attends Madison as a freshman and she got a 22 on her ACT. Students at our school typically do not score high on the ACT. All seem to do well in college.

yes, and that’s why you have a shot at Honors. Honors gives you important perks (like early registration) that allow you to increase the odds you’ll graduate in 4 years and it makes the big university more personable.

Thanks for your input. I guess we will see what happens:)

BTW. My sisters is a senior at St. Thomas, so any of the schools I’m looking at is a bargain!

:) But if you apply to some other schools, who knows, you may get a scholarship too… Have you run the Net Price calculators on some other MN and WI colleges, just to see if they’d be less expensive?

85 percent chance you will get in. ACT a tad low but you are a solid instate candidate. Good luck!!

@Jefarr Congratulations on your acceptance to UW-Madison!

Do keep us updated :D

@MYOS1634 I’m in

Details please!!!

THAT’s AWESOME though… Will you be applying to any other schools to compare financial aid offers or is the offer you got from UWI good?
(Or do you have a new thread with your results?)
