What are my chances for UW-Seattle?

I applied to UW-Seattle a few months ago and the long wait to hear back has really been getting me stressed lately. Some websites (Parchment, Naviance) give me a 50-75% chance, and others (the calculators for GPA/SAT) give me about a 20-40% chance. Can anyone chance me for the general school based on my credentials? I know that they admit by major, but I’m more likely to be admitted as a pre-major (general school) because CS is a very competitive major so I’m looking for my odds there.

High school is a top-10 public high school in Washington state.
GPA: 3.39 (I started low but have increased my GPA every single semester starting Sophomore year)
SAT: 1380
Course load: I took a fairly average course load the first 3 years, but I am taking my first APs (Physics C: Mechanics, Calc AB, Comp Sci) this year with a B+, a B, and an A respectively.
Essay: My essay was (vaguely, I don’t want to go into personal details) about how I overcame a unique challenge I had and have consistently improved my grades throughout high school as a result of that progress. IMO this could either be seen as an average essay or a fantastic essay.
Extracurriculars/Volunteer Work: I have held multiple 4-H leadership positions over the last 5 years, and have over 100 hours of community service (mostly helping to organize the local rotary auction in the summer)

Many thanks!

If I were you, I wouldn’t worry about UW, especially if you want to study CS. The program is so competitive and overcrowded that you would have a greater chance of getting denied even if you do get admitted to the university.

I would focus on a school that loves you back. With tech, prestige doesn’t mean anything because it’s an industry based entirely on practical work experience. After about 3 years of experience, employers don’t even ask where you went to school.

I think, for a CS major at UW, you have extremely slim chances of admission. Your GPA and test scores are far too low for UW to even consider your application unless you have mind-blowing circumstances. For the general school, however, you are about average I think.

You have to decide what’s more important: the name of the college on your degree or what you got to study. If you can’t get the CS major direct admit, and you want to study CS, you should go elsewhere.
