I am able to write strong essays.
What are my chances of Vandy? Is it realistic for me… and are there any suggestions for targets??
I would say you have a great chance.
Base on my D who had almost identical stats and ECs like yours — GPA, ACT, race, gender, National Merit Commended, National AP Scholar, 13 APs, 2Bs in AP Chem and 1C in AP Calc, church worship and small group leader. She applied ED and got in couple years ago. You probably has an advantage due to your home state than hers in applying. Good luck!
@Sophia Lewis
just curious - why would a geometry teacher write your rec? If you are ranked high with the high GPA, I am assuming that you probably took Geo in 9th or 10th (you seem like a high achiever so probably are going inito Cal BC or Stat or something higher). Usually recs would come from a junior (11th) teacher, unless there is something special or not explained above. Just curious?
@amNotarobot , Vandy is becoming more competitive though. I think OP needs to pull higher ACT. ECs are too cookie cutter for Asian kids as well.
Would you qualify for FA? If not, I am not sure if education major full pay makes the best ROI sense.
Yes agree @SincererLove the ACT could be higher. Although no guarantee, high GPA and ACT seems very important at Vandy!
