What are my chances for Wesleyan/Oberlin and what makes each school stand out?

Will chance back!!

Hi, I was wondering if someone could chance me for Wesleyan University and Oberlin College. I plan on applying Early Decision to Wesleyan and have visited and interviewed already. I have an interview scheduled for Oberlin this winter.

Tell me what you think! I really hope to get in to one of the schools and am trying to decide which one I like better!

Great academics and ECs, everything depends on your essays now.

Wesleyan is a high match.
Oberlin is a match.

Everything looks good (what’s your Unweighted, BTW?), so I’d put both at Match (ED helps out). What’s your major, and did you take corresponding SAT II’s or just easier ones?

I’m not too sure what I want to major it yet…and my unweighted GPA is floating somewhere between 3.65 and 3.7

Well, that kicks it down a bit. Not too much, though. Maybe take another SAT II if you have time in a subject you might major in (Lit, by the looks of the colleges you asked for)

i think you’re a pretty good match however i think your EC could use some work… like leadership positions. the other stuff looks good though

@Buggie111

Does unweighted GPA have that much of an impact? I thought the weight was more important, but I guess it might not be…but thanks for the input and I’ll try and fit another SATII into my schedule.

Both very good schools, but with different feeling campuses. You need to visit each campus to see how YOU like it. S really liked Oberlin’s campus and what it had to offer in the sciences over many LACs. He has applied ED to Oberlin. Oberlin’s updated stats and its 2017 class profile can be found at [Profile: Class of 2017 - Oberlin College](http://new.oberlin.edu/arts-and-sciences/profile-class-of-2017.dot)

For the schools I’ve visited, it does have some pull. It might be different for these top national schools.

Very few top schools use weighted, only one I know of Is Notre Dame, almost all use unweighted.

I don’t know much about your colleges, but just looking at your app, I see you as a very well-rounded individual, who is not only good at academics, but also has a knack for music and sports. I think you have a very good chance at all those colleges out there. Just make sure your essays are unique and authentic. Essays are the one thing you have full control over in your apps, which is just a great asset for anyone applying to top privates.

I think you’ll get into both schools! Your scores and EC’s are strong, and I think any liberal arts college would love to have you.
