<p>The fact that you are coming underprivileged situation does play to your benefit. However, the people at Yale will not know this unless it is included in your essay, so if you want them to know this, make sure that that is included. Make sure to get really high SAT scores I would say that it 2250 is really what you should be to put yourself at yales competitive admission standards. The way they evaluate Applicants to Yale is by putting them on a scale of 1 to 4. The ones are admitted and threes and fours are nonadmitted except on very rare occasions. I would put you at around two maybe a high three. Make sure to have leadership positions and get extremely high grades this next year. Yale excepts about 6% of their applicants, so make sure to realize that even for the most qualified student, the chances are still very low. Consider applying to other top schools that maybe aren’t as selective. For example, the University of Washington in Seattle is an extremely good school where your chances of admittance would be very high. University of Virginia also a very good option. <p>Also, Kansas State is good and the students there are very happy. A poll showed that the vast, vast majority of students would do it all over again. They accept 99% of there applicants. You could probably get a great scholarship there.</p>

<p>Though you have a lot going for you, due to growing up in less privileged circumstances, there is still some work that needs to be put in for you to get into a highly selective institution such as yale. I’d recommend retaking the SAT, at least a 2000 to be considered, preferably 2200+. I’m not sure if you stated your GPA but I’ll assume its at least a 3.7 uw for you to have a chance. Your ECs are good but top colleges like to see some sort of preprofessional attempt, so maybe try out an internship.
