What do you think my chances are of getting in?
SAT: 750 CR 700 Math 690 Writing
ACT: 32
Sat II: 760 US History 690 Math IIC 640 Biology
3.7 gpa ranked 38 out of 440 at a pretty competitive high school
5 on US History 5 on Psychology 4 on European History

I am applying early and am a double legacy which is the only reason I think I have a chance. I also have a guy on the board writing a recommendation for me. What do you think my chances are? Thanks a lot

What school are you applying to?

And what extracurrics do you have?

the college and some of my extra curriculars are captain of the varsity tennis team all 4 years, all league, national honor society, tutoring program at school, peer leader for the freshmen(highly selective program), and im a tv show every few weeks discussing politics

I think you're fine for the college.

your ranks a bit low..but the double legacy and recc are pretty big...id say you have at least a decent shot

rank could be deadly but that double legacy may very well balance it out.

the legacy will get you in.

Legacy is not an automatic thing - even ED over 50% do not get in. I think the guy has a good chance, but no guarantees. I would say that it might come down to who else is applying ED from his school, and the school's past track record with Penn.

What if a school doesn't have a track record; is that good or bad?

robertson06 - a track record with Penn is always a good thing, because it means that they like the curriculum and the kids they are getting from there. But no track record is not necessarily the kiss of death, either - your stats and application can speak for themselves, too.

well, i don't know if my stats will speak the right language for my school. I think that there has been at least 20 years since someone from here got into the IVY League. Wish me luck though
