Hi, i am a junior at cypress community college and i currently have a 2.58 gpa. I applied to transfer to CSUF and CSULB as a Computer Science Major. I know that computer science is an impacted major and my gpa is pretty low for that major too. I’ve completed all my GE and most, but not all of the classes required according to assist.org. I’ve heard that my friends friend didn’t get accepted to any colleges and is now stuck, not knowing what to do because he didn’t get accepted to any csus as a transfer and i am afraid that might happen to me as well. i am a local as i live in Anaheim. I would like to know what are my chances of getting in any cal states i applied or any at all. If not, what are my alternatives if i don’t get i in and state colleges. Please Help!!!
I would say the CSULB will be a tough admit if you are not in the local service area and especially for CS.
Cypress college is in the local service area for CSU Fullerton and based on the Spring admit thread, the local GPA cutoff is 2.75 so it looks like a stretch.
How about applying to Dominguez Hills which is a non-impacted campus or stay another year at your CC and try to bump up that GPA to around 3.0? Do you need to stay in the area or would you be willing to consider other non-impacted CSU’s/CS major such as San Bernardino, Channel Islands, Northridge, Sacramento State, San Marcos?

the local gpa is 2.7 for general admissions or specifically for computer science majors?
