What Are My Chances? Getting Into Texas A&M Or UTD?

Hi. I’m a junior in high school & my junior year ends on June 1st.
Unfortunately I have slacked off this whole year. I always thought I would just go to community college, so I never cared too much about my grades or GPA. However the past month I have completely changed my mind and decided I would like to attend a 4 year university. Sadly this was very late in the game.
The 2 colleges I have been really looking into are Texas A&M & The University Of Texas At Dallas.
Heres a run down of my grades/GPA;
I failed physics for the year and have to retake it for the credit in summer school this year.
(These grades are averages off every report card so far, which is 5 grades off a report card every 6 weeks)
I have high A’s in both (2) of my elective courses.
I have a high B in AP english (85.8)
I have a C in algebra (70.2)
I have a high C in history. (76)
However, if for the last 6 weeks of this year I can pull extremely high grades, I can manage to make my final average for the classes;
English (88)
Algebra (74)
History (80).
So my final end of the year GPA should be anywhere from around 2.5 to a 2.97.
I have not taken my SAT or ACT, but I am registered to take them in July.
I am in FFA, Allstar Cheerleading and a competition law enforcement skills team.
I am 100% aware that my chances of getting accepted into either of these colleges is highly unlikely. However I would still like input as to how I can improve my chances. What kind of SAT/ACT scores do I need to make? How can I make up for the low GPA? Stuff like that. Just overall advice on my chances of getting admitted would be appreciated. Or, if there is nothing I can do, and you thinking getting into either of those colleges is impossible for me at this point, I would like to know that too, along with possible other options.
Sorry if this was confusing and all over the place, I can try to clear up any questions.
Thanks so much!

Also, since those colleges are highly unlikely, what about colleges such as Tarleton, Texas State or Midwestern State?

No chance at A&M or UTD, depending on your SAT/ACT score you’ll have a decent chance at Texas State, Midwestern State and Tarleton

What’s your class rank?

Even if you GPA is below a 3, if your school is “easy” your class rank could be high enough to get in (I personally think it’s complete BS, but that’s what the state mandates).

For TAMU:

If you are within the top 10%, you literally only have to graduate to get admitted.

If you are within the top 25%, anything above the required SAT (1360 total, with 620 math and 660 reading minimum) will get you into the school.

UTD:

Same 10% rule.

Even if your class rank is complete crap, if your SAT is above 1270 or your ACT is above 26, you will also get auto-admit.

Other than that, the other possible 4 year colleges have been listed above.

If you apply and can’t make it, I would suggest some community college: Collin College for UTD and Blinn/Bryan for TAMU.

So, since you haven’t done the SAT or ACT yet, I would suggest you start studying for them (use khan academy, library study books, or your school may even have prep tutoring).

While I agree with those above that Texas A&M is a long shot, there is nothing stopping you from scoring a 1270 or above on the SAT (guaranteeing you admission to UTD). While your GPA is really holding you back, your EC’s are a lot better than most people in the same range of applications.
