I have taken honors my whole high school experience, I am a part of the Health Science Academy at my high school, I have done over 200+ hours of volunteer/internship hours and am only planning on completing more, and I am an Athletic Trainer at my high school; however, my GPA is not the best. This year, my junior year, I have only taken AP English and ended up with a 3.6 GPA average. I plan on taking AP Stats, AP Lit, AP Psych, AP French, and AP Chem next year. It is my goal to get into University of California Irvine, and I only feel as though my chances are getting worse. Any advice?
what are your test scores ?
I don’t take my SAT until May but I plan and feel confident in getting at least a 2000+…
2000+ is nice for UCI, the averag for the university is 1850, so that would help compensate your GPA.
UCI actually prefers higher GPA vs Test scores. If you look at many of the accepted threads for the last few years, they accepted many applicants with UC GPA’s of 4.0+ but lower than average SAT/ACT. It will also depend upon the current applicant pool, so do your best. After Junior year, calculate your UC GPA and repost with your SAT scores.

Ahh okay thank you very much. (:
Do either of you know if extracurricular activities play a big role in admission process for UCI?
