What are my chances! HELP!

Agreed with parent2noles.
Don't come to FAU for Chemistry.
It's not one of our better departments.
Biology, yes, Psychology, definitely, Chemistry, no.

I am just going to retake the SAT and apply to UFS and UCF and hope I get in. If I dont get in Ill go to a community college to take general courses for a year and then apply to UF or FSU if i have a good gpa. Because I plan on getting a BA or AA in chemistry so that I can then apply for pharmacy school at UF or some other college maybe.

I have a question!!! my math teacher wants to give me statistics next year instead of precal, should I take statistics or beg for precal????

Pre-calculus.

If you're going into the sciences, you'll need calculus. Stats later.

"I can then apply for pharmacy school at UF or some other college maybe."

That is a really difficult pharmacy school to get into, so do your absolute best on every single thing you do in college -- not just your chemistry classes.

Also, most pre-pharmacy students I know have held jobs as pharmacy techs at places like CVS/Publix/etc. You should definitely look into that.

Yeah I know but I can get a job in a pharmacy as an assistant and i dont have to be studying pre-pharmacy. Also I do not want to study pre-pharmacy because im not 100% sure I want to go to pharmacy college thats just the goal im proposing myself for now but theres other areas that also interest me so im just gona let time tell me and with a chemistry degree I can continue any of the other studies I like or even continue studying chemistry which is one of my passions(#1chemistry and #2 health)

UCF is accepting 1150+ right now, or so the rumor is.

thats not good for me lol

bump bump!

bump bump!!! lol bumperrrrs

Start making studying and school a bigger priority. Did you study at all for the SAT? Your scores will improve GREATLY if you study hard enough. I got really low psat scores because I didn't study at all, but then I bought a few prep books and worked through them diligently, and increased my score increased by 500 points.

Some of my friends that got into UCF had 1030, 1070, 1090 and a 1100

They are not accepting only 1150+

I would have to blame my SAT scores on the Puerto Rico education lol, I did study pretty good but I didnt study exremely well though. Also on the week before the test I did not study at all because my uncle has past away that same week and the day before I went to sleep like at 1 am so I think that might of affected me. Though I was studying since like 1 months before the test. I hope I do get a much higher score when I retake the test on October.

U gonna take the SAT again? U should. USF has a sliding scale admissions. if u go to the counselors corner on their admissions section, u should find it. Looking at it, u wont get in with that SAT score. U wont get into UCF of FSU or UF as well. However u will get into UTampa. UNF, FGCU, FAU are all matches. If u raise ur SAT scores to say a 1050-1100 I would list ur chances as follows (ill add a few schools):

UF: 30% chance of getting in

UMiami: 40% chance of getting in: Although I got in with 1100 SAT score and 3.2 gpa. I had good EC's and Reference letters. Work on that!

FSU: 60% chance of getting in

UCF: 65% chance of getting in

USF: if u meet their sliding scale ur in. I suggest u look at it: considering u get those stats, Ur in for sure!

UTampa: 100% chance of getting in and 80% with scholly. Dont suggest the school though cuz its really a joke school. If u wanna stay in Tampa, USF is the best route.

FAU, UNF, FGCU: 90-100% chance of getting in.

What do you mean by sliding scale of admissions at USF??? I plan on getting 1 or 2 years on any college and then transfer as soon as possible to UF but I do not want to go to a community college , though it would be my best option, maybe. by the way thank you!!!!

Ehhh, don't be surprised if you don't get into FAU.

With a sub-1000 SAT, it's a tough sell.

An FAU admissions officer told me recently that they're looking for quality, not quantity now (a previous FAU president decided all by himself that FAU had a 'commitment to open access', swinging open doors of admission to anybody and ruining our reputation for a long time... now we're making up for it and we deny almost 50% of people who apply here)

The sliding scale admissions formula is on the USF website:

http://usfweb2.usf.edu/admissions/pdf/2006-07%20Grid%20for%20publication%2020060731.pdf

You still have a bit of time left, so why not try to bring up your SAT score or join a club/team? Some great SAT prep books are Barron's and College Board. Pick one up at the bookstore and work through it to improve your scores. I bet if you really work at it, you can improve 100-200 points- you just really need to get your scores above 1000 if you want a chance at one of the larger universities. That said, there are plenty of smaller, less competitive schools in Florida- why not look at one of those?

I got deferred from USF :S

Hey I just retook the SAT in January and raised some of my scores and lowered others :s In critical reading i went from 480 to 560, Math form 450 to 430 :s, and in writing from 470 to 480. What are my chancesin USF and Temple University now? I gotta say that math score is killing :(
