I'm a high school senior, who knows that she should have paid more attention in school, and also knows that I don't really have much of a chance anywhere... but... where do you guys think i could get into???

Here are my stats:

I am an African-American Female, and very good at writing essays

GPA
9th Grade - GPA=2.6
10th Grade - =2.5
11th Grade (New School, very hard grading scale) - =2.6
AP US History, with a 2 on the exam (i fell asleep...)
12th Grade (New School, easier grading scale) - =3.8

ExtraCurriculars
9th Grade - Bible Club, Drama (in 2 plays)
10th Grade - Drama, 30 hr/ week job
11th Grade - Drama, 25 hr/ week job (same job as 10th)
12th Grade - Drama (1 play so far), 25 hr/week job, some community service

SATs

2nd Attempt 1200 -570 Math, 630 Verbal (w/o prep classes)

And that's all i have so far yes i know it's awful... And i don't think girl scouts would count as an extracurricular activity, i quit back in 8th grade...

So Where (if anyplace) do you guys think I could get into???

I am going to major in computer science, or computer programming, or computer engineering... basicially anything computers. And anywhere in the US is fine as long as I can get accepted, EXCEPT for the northwest. I have issues with the northwest...

I think you would do well at most any college, and I think you'll have no problem getting into most any school of your choice if you take the SATs again and improve a little more. Maybe one of those Princeton Review study books would help. The one I read helped improve my test-taking strategy. Plus, you seem willing to make good use of your time. Good luck!

wow, that sounds so optimistic! for the past 2 years, all i've been told is that "i wont get into any college without 'community college' stamped to the name". Does anyone have any specific schools in mind?

Look up Allegheny College while you are on PR, and look for similar colleges. Allegheny has a tremendous college science program - its one of the schools my son has applied to. You should also look at Rochester Institute of Technology - very good school, I think you would have a good chance. Being female will give you a bump up when applying to tech schools. I know these schools are in the NE, but I am familiar with them. If they look reasonable, you can look at similar ones. Also, U Pittsburgh that Neelesh mentions is a cool college - I like the campus and the Cathedral of Learning.
