What are my chances? im just so worried (plus some questions on davis life)

first of all, i am so sorry for making one of these threads but I just dont want to be heartbroken when admissions come

im not sure if i can get into Davis, and im really worried because I really like that school… i really do.

my major is biological sciences

UC gpa: 3.5 <— ahsfuaygfja hlgaj… i hate my GPA T_T
SAT I: 2000 (math 700, writing and critical reading: 650)
SAT II: MathIIc: 740 Molecular Bio: 730
AP score: Biology 5

the only honors and AP i really took in 10/11th grade is chem honors and Bio AP.
I took pyschology at a community college over the summer
now im taking Calc AB and another language honors
ive taken 6 classes every year
and my school is extremely competitive
my grades have shown an upward trend (had uw 3.7s in junior year and like 3.1-3.3s in sophmore year)

e/c: ive had very heavy involvement in cross country and track, and in boy scouts (im an eagle)… and some light involvement in some community service and school clubs (like martial arts, but nothing worth mentioning about)

I liked my essays alot

so you think i have a shot? does davis fit me? if not, what UCs do you think does?

plus… do u think i have a shot for any of the more competitive UCs?
because the two schools i really want to go to are UCLA and UCD… but i know UCLA is a long (if not impossible) shot

anyways, i have some question about Davis campus life. Is it really biker’s paradise? Because I L-O-V-E to bike, ive been on biking trips that were 50miles+. I’ve also heard that Davis was a great place to go running in, and was a nice base camp for snowboarding. I absolutely love to snowboard and ski, and running is my greatest passion of all. Wouldn’t trade running for anything in the world.

Finally… I also heard davis’s biology program is pretty strong. So you think davis would fit me personally (not only academically)? what is your description of davis?

I would say that you have at least a 50% chance of getting in. Your SATs are above average which to a certain extent offsets your GPA.

I don't know about running but Davis is pretty good for biking most students bike to class etc, and there are some nice day bike trips you can go on that start in davis.
It takes about two hours to get to the ski resorts in Tahoe.

The biology program is supposed to be pretty strong but I don't have any direct experience in it.

From your desciption I would say that davis looks like a good fit academically and non-academically. Another UC that sounds like it would be a good fit is Santa Barbara. San Diego also has a good biology program but it's really far from any snow.

I think you have some chance of getting in. The GPA is probably the only thing that is really holding you back.

I also echo with "bjwbell" that UCSB might also be another good fit for you.

I got into irvine
so I feel a bit better about my chances for davis

(just a tad bit)

Congratulations! UCD, UCSB, and UCI have almost identical stats, so your chances should be good at UCD as well. Did you apply to UCSD as well?

to ilah0421? did u get into irvine yesterday?

hi there. davis is a biker's paradise, looks fine for running, too. driving distance to snow. really nice new dining commons. strong bio from what we've heard. nice college town atmosphere. seems like a good match from what you have described. best of luck.

if u do well on sat 2~!but suck in sat 1? is that help ur gpa?

i got into davis!
but san diego too... o.O

congratz! so where will you choose? UCD or UCSD?
