Hi, I'm 15 year old girl (16 in March) and currently a junior. WPI is my dream school and I was wondering what are my chances to get into WPI! Also if you have any tips to increase my chances, that would help very much!! Thanks soooo much

Are these any good? I really wana get into WPI:)!

Nobody can really tell exactly what is needed to for any particular school. It depends on the applicant pool for that year.

Your total stats are quite similar to my DD who is currently a senior at WPI (she was admitted as freshman). Her weighted GPA was a tad higher. You don’t list you individual scores or unweighted GPA so cann’t make a direct comparison. DD had math scores higher than her verbal scores in her SATs and ACTs. Her STEM grades were her highest grades. She was also in AP classes in the STEM areas. All good things for an engineering school.

So, I would recommend you keep up or improve (never hurts to improve) your GPA. Don’t over commit in your ECs and clubs. Always better to be more involved in fewer than just be a “joiner” who doesn’t do much.

What is your unweighted GPA? How many APs? Their average admitted rank is 11%. I actually think you are borderline if not below what they accept but you have the huge advantage of being female.

I’m taking AP USH, then im taking AP stat, AP bio or chem next year. Taking 5 honors classes. My school doesnt offer that much ap courses. And I’m also in the National Honors Society…

I think unweighted is about 3.2-3.5 (They’re really low…)

No one can tell you whether or not you will get into WPI; or anyone else at WPI or any other college.

What can be told to you is to raise your GPA as much as you can. GPA and not test scores are probably the biggest deciding factor in most admission decisions.

Yes, work on raising your GPA. Your test scores are pretty decent, especially the ACT. The fact that you are a female does give you a little bump at WPI.
And don’t be “scared”, be informed instead! Do enough research on colleges to have other schools on your list that you would like to attend where your chances of getting admitted are good AND where you can afford to go. Don’t think that there is only one “dream school” for you.

I agree with BeanTownGirl and others, don’t get hooked onto one dream school. I am hearing that a lot of girls applied to engineering this year, so being a girl at the top schools may not give that push anymore. Scared usually means you are already anticipating the failure, where as you have time and can change the future positively. Be determined to get your grades and scores up. Good Luck!

WPI had over 10,000 applicants this year When my D applied in 2011, there were 7,500, for the same number of spots. The competition is getting very tough. Improve your GPA, show interest, and as others have said, don’t get focused on 1 dream school.

The biggest thing for WPI (especially if you are going into CompSci) is to get a lot of math done your senior year. I’m not sure if you said you were going to take AP Calc AB/BC or AP Physics, but you are taking AP Stats. At my school, AP Stats is a joke. AP Calc AB is pretty simple, and AP Calc BC is really where you score big with WPI. If there’s anything like a programming class at your school you can get into, I suggest you do. Overall, load up on Sciences and Maths, while also balancing out your schedule and getting decent EC’s.

Asian female who is also aiming for a CS major. I got accepted EA I this year and my stats are similar to yours, if not higher, so don’t be scared! A big plus, like everyone else here said, are AP classes. If your school doesn’t offer it, self-study/outside classes is another option.

In my opinion, you’re in for sure with significant merit aid. I applied for CS with a 27 on the ACT and worse GPA and I got 20k of merit aid per year. The maximum merit aid they offer per year is 25k. Keep working hard and good luck.
