What are my chances in Ivys with a 2140 SAT ?

Hey
Am an Arabian student and I’d taken the SAT and scored a 2140 ( M770, CR680, W690 ). SAT 2 (Bio750, Math Level 1 800 ) My GPA is 4. My extra-curriculum activities are voluntary ones in some charities. Am I eligible for joining any of the Ivys, such as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton, Duke, Columbia ?
Am interested in Political Science and Astrophysics, but I still didn’t decide which one to take.

Ivy Schools would prefer to see Math II. A girl at my high school last year got flat out rejected at Harvard, and she got a 36 on the ACT twice, 2400 on the SAT, National Science Awards, played an instrument (I forget what) with extreme skill, volunteered and tutored a ton of people, etc. With those scores, you may have a shot at the less-intense Ivy leagues, but I wouldn’t set my sights on one of the top ones if I were you.

Well, the international student acceptance rate is much lower than domestic, so chances are extremely small for basically everyone. Your scores, GPA, and ECs are decent, and ultimately a lot will rest on luck, as for everyone else.

Don’t worry too much about it; honestly, everyone is eligible and it’s hard to say what admissions officers think.

You don’t “join” an Ivy League school. The schools in the Ivy League are reaches for everyone as are Stanford and Duke. Look at the schools common data sets to see if your scores fall within the middle 50% of accepted students. Luckily, you don’t have to declare a major as soon as you get accepted. No one can tell you if you have a chance of getting accepted because these schools reject well qualified applicants every year, you’ll just have to wait and see if you are accepted.

Thanks @Elite2400 & @Tola2015
But I’ve just taken a look on some other threads, and I immediately decided to delete this one -_- My application weighs nothing beside theirs. Any advice about how to improve my application ?

Don’t compare yourself to other people’s stats. Looking at the results threads, you will see that sometimes these schools accept students who you would have though would have been rejected and reject students who you thought would be accepted. Admissions at these schools is “holistic” meaning that more than just GPA and test scores are used to select their incoming class. Exceptional letters of recommendation and essays could tip the scale in your favor. At the same time though, its not Ivy League, Stanford, Duke or bust when everything is said and done, you will end up at the college that is best for you. At the moment, don’t worry about it anymore, everything will work out for the best.

@‌ Thanks a lot :slight_smile:

The ivies are obviously reaches for everyone, but a 2140 is a good score, and everything else looks fantastic. I had a friend who just got into Princeton with a 2020.

@wtj212‌
It’s obvious that you have no idea about how MUCH MORE competitive Int.admission is.

In GENERAL(there are some exception, like candidates with international awards or fantas, 2140 is NOT enough for internationals because there are less seats for int kids and admission officers need to be much more selective than they already are on domestic students. Your “friend with 2020” sounds like a blue moon case because 2020 is low not only for int, but also for domestic students who consider Ivy schools. He/she must have had stellar records in GPA and ECs, and extremely compelling essays.

Also, how can you “some charity works” are fantastic?? I would love to see your reasoning behind such a clueless statement. As @Catgod36‌ said " she got a 36 on the ACT twice, 2400 on the SAT, National Science Awards, played an instrument (I forget what) with extreme skill, volunteered and tutored a ton of people, etc." Ivy league is not above rejecting even a very qualified and worthy student, and this girl mentioned above clearly has records that everyone would consider “fantastic”. How are "some charity works"equally fantastic as “36 ACT, 2400 SAT, National Sceince awards, etc”??? Besides, the OP didn’t elaborate much on his situation.

OP, I am not an admission officer not an advisor, but as a fellow int student, I have to say it’s almost impossible. I have seen many int kids rejected withTop schools don’t mind rejecting even more qualified international students, so they have no reason to accept ones whose stats are even less competitive.

Besides, everything, why Ivy leagues? There are many decent schools that will perfectly work for you as tola215 said. It doesnt have to be super best school to succeed in USA.

Lastly, can you pay?
