What are my chances in University of the Pacific?

Hi, i'm currently a junior and i want to apply to university of the pacific (UoP) in California for their accelerated pharmacy program. I am a resident in San Francisco and my cumulative unweighted GPA so far is a 3.80. For my first SAT, i didnt do as well as i expected. I got a 1770 ;[. Anyways, do i have a good chance at being accepted at UoP? Also, i am concerned because i didn't take chemistry yet at school( i took earth science freshman year because they wouldn't let me switch out to biology. I took Biology Honors sophomore year and i am currently taking AP Biology) and i heard that chemistry is a very important class for pharmacy. Should i take AP chem senior year or just take chemistry in college? Thanks

I’m somewhat familiar with the school; I think you’ll almost certainly be accepted as long as you meet or exceed their required high school courses. However, if I were you, I would be very much worried about your Chem situation.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll be able to complete the all of the required courses. I’m starting to get anxious about the chemistry situation though. I don’t think i’ll be able to take it during the summer because i’m applying to Stanford Summer Internship for High School Juniors/Seniors. If i don’t get it, i have a backup in a pretty much guaranteed internship at a law office in San Francisco. What do you think i should do about the Chemistry situation?

It looks like your best option is to take AP Chemistry during your senior year; or, if you’re up to the challenge, teach it to yourself and test out of it–just check to make sure your school would accept credit for that.

Thanks again. I researched what classes i would have next year and it worked out perfect. I have one free period and i think i’ll be taking AP Chem to use that free spot. Thank you very much for your help.

I am currently a senior that has already applied for UOP pre-pharm…
I spoke to one of the people in charge of admissions from the university to have him discuss my chances of getting in… I showed him my transcript, ACT/SAT scores, told him about my extracurriculars.
He told me that I would be VERY competitive in the selection of who gets admitted, but he told me that my 32 on the ACT (comparable to a 2130 on SAT) was generally lower than what people admitted into accelerated pre-pharm got. He said that of course there were people with 32s who got admitted, but he said it would be best to retake it to increase my chances of getting admitted.
You can take a look at my GPA/scores/extracurriculars in the link:

Wow. I had no idea it was that competitive. It seems like my chances of getting in are decreasing. Please tell if you end up getting in. Also, thanks for the feedback and good luck!

Hey, i have another question. If i do not get accepted to UoP for accelerated Pharmacy, what are other ways to become a pharmacist? Should i take the 4 years and then apply to pharmacy school?

Some schools also have the two year of pre-pharm and they help you in transferring after your sophomore year if you have high grades, etc.

Lipscomb’s a great school for Pharmacy. The funding is amazing and Nashville is beautiful.
