Hi! I am currently a junior in high school, and I am starting to think about where I want to apply to college. I am thinking about doing ED/EA at Dartmouth, Princeton, Harvard, or Northwestern (maybe even Columbia)
Here are my stats/some information (sorry, it’s long):
White female
Competitive charter school in California - my school day is 11 hrs with commute, so keep that in mind
Class rank: N/A
GPA: 5.0 weighted (academic), and A’s in all my classes
SAT: 1560
SAT II: 800, Math 2, 800, Chemistry
AP Scores:
World History - 5
The following scores are all anticipated, because I won’t take the tests until May:
Calc AB - 5
US History - 5
Biology - 4/5
Physics I - 4/5
English Lang - 5
Senior year, I will be taking: AP Chem, AP Lit, AP French, AP Gov/Econ, and AP Calc BC
Classes:
- Freshman: Honors English, Algebra 2/Trig, French 3, History (we do not offer honors), Honors Biology, and Ballroom Dance (PE)
- Sophomore: Honors English, Precalculus, French 4 Honors, AP World History, Honors Chemistry, and Ballroom Dance
- Junior: AP Lang, AP Calc AB (must take AB before BC), AP US History, AP Biology, AP Physics 1, and a TA block for French, because AP French was not offered
- Senior: AP Lit, AP Calc BC, AP Gov/Econ, AP Chemistry, AP French, and a return to Ballroom Dancing
EC’s:
- Vice president of Math club (will be president next year) - Jury is still out on whether or not I will make AIME this year
- ARML
- Member of Mock Trial (gunning for team captain next year)
- Member of math modeling team
- President of a math tournament designed to get girls involved in math
- Director of local Girls Who Code club - over 200 hrs a year in community service between this and the math tournament
- Viola (and orchestra) - also done regional and state-wide orchestra
- Piano - won some minor competitions, but nothing huge
- Secretary of French Honor Society
- Probably going to make national merit (unless the scale is insane)
Summer Activities:
- After freshman year: backpacked around the French countryside with a group of french kids - super immersive experience
- After sophomore year: Indiana University Summer String Academy, Awesome Math summer program
- After junior year: On tour with my orchestra, internship at 3D-printing company, fellowship with charity organization (probably going to backpack around the alps too)
Personal interests;
- I will most likely major in applied math, but I want to study a lot of other things too (I may go to law school or business school)
- I love France and the French (for a long time, I spent every summer there), and I want to study abroad during college
- I read a lot - I’m a massive consumer of books (Jane Austen, Edith Wharton, Oscar Wilde, and F. Scott Fitzgerald) as well as the New York Times and Man Repeller (lol)
- I love the outdoors (I do a lot of backpacking, as you can see)
- I love the fine arts, and food, so I would prefer to go somewhere where those are in large supply
- I don’t want to go to a super party school, but I do want a social scene (for example, I could never go to U Chicago or even MIT)
My mom and my grandpa went to Harvard and my dad went to Princeton, but other members of my family have also gone to all of these schools (besides northwestern) so I have at least a little bit of legacy everywhere. Everyone donates a little bit, but not significantly. At what school will I have the best chance of getting in? Where will I fit in best?
