My essays will be very strong

anyone please

First, your APUSH and AP English teachers didn’t screw you. A teacher will be the difference between a high B and a low A. If you got a C, it is not the teachers fault; it is yours.

With that said, I only know much about UNC. For that, I’d put it as a definite reach. Your SAT and GPA are too low for UNC.

Thanks for the input

bumppppppp

What state do you live in?

Getting screwed by a teacher is when you get a B+ and you are about in the top 4 people in your class.

I live in NC

anyone please

Community college

bumpppppppp

Look buddy, you have a chance. Regardless of what went wrong you still need to try. Heck, I saw my school’s top senior being rejected to several Top schools (they were his essays. the essays were so superficial.) So try nonetheless!

Honestly, the fact that your a first generation college student will help a lot, so make sure that you write that down on your apps. Your EC’s are a bit weak, they show no leadership skills, and your SAT score needs to be raised 200 points at LEAST. Your essays and recs. need to be fantastic, and if I were you I would try to do something this summer (such as running a blood drive or something of that caliber) that makes you stand out from the crowd. But the fact that you already have a family member at UNC, and the fact that your a first generation college student will help a lot. So yes, I think you have a chance for UNC, the other schools are a bit chancy though.

UNC is quite tough… I’m also looking into it. A lot of people I know who are going there do have higher unweighted GPAs (upper threes), but also hold many leadership positions, which I believe you can and should too (hold leadership positions). JROTC is a great opportunity. Show interest in the class, be a leader in there, show the instructor that you can make a difference. Command a drill team, a raider team. From experience in the class, I know most cadets are not willing to lead (which is ironic since it’s generally a leadership class…), so YOU be the one to command and lead. And maybe you are, but I don’t know. The key club thing is also a good spring board for college applications. It shows, hopefully, that you are involved in something you care about, which is good. You have this last year to really push and show colleges that you are capable of and are striving towards improvement. Colleges, for the most part, like to see what is called an “upward trend”. Don’t burn out this last year. And do not, absolutely do not, blame your teachers for anything. Because, in the end, it is only you who determines the outcome. Instead of blaming them, look back and learn from the mistakes you made in the classes. I would also advise taking the SAT again. If you got above 2000, that would help you quite a bit. Study for it! So from all that, here’s my consensus!!

UNC: reach
State: low match - do something you love to stand out. Try the SAT again.
ECU: match
USC: don’t know, sorry
App: low match

thanks guys
