I’m a rising junior and I’ve started to look at some schools that interest me, but they’re pretty competitive. I’m in NHS, on a Planned Parenthood youth council, international high school stugov/school board rep, feminist union president, a member of an a cappella and jazz choir, and a double lettered/one time showcased actor and sponsorship coordinator for my drama department. I got about a 1330 on the PSAT but I think I’ll be improving by at least 150 points before I take the SAT in the spring. I have a 4.0 and I’m taking all IB/AP academic classes next year. What are my chances @ these schools? Thanks
I think your chances are really good. With that said, even the best student can feel 50-60% because NU is that competitive.
Alot of people will tell you, that last 150-200 on the SAT is the hardest to get. Be sure to get some tutoring help. I started with collegeboard prep, then my tutor put me on Kaplan to prep me for the toughest questions.
Also ask yourself “why Northwestern?” Look beyond the label and see if its your dream. I dreamed of going to JHU, but after visiting I changed my mind right away. So visit, visit, and visit.
Also load yourself with major related EC.
Good luck, this is a big year coming up.
Its hard to rank you right now, but with your ECs and GPA, you’re a competitive applicant. Good luck!
You’ve got a chance, that’s for sure, but college is such a crapshoot who knows. Best of luck to you!
