What are my chances of acceptance into very competitive universities?

I have just begun my junior year in high school - I am in the IB program, and we are encouraged to begin the college search very early. I was hoping for opinions on what my chances currently are of attending very competitive schools (some of my interests include Stanford [legacy], Georgetown, UPenn, UCLA, and Duke). Obviously, as I have only just begun my junior year, I will be continuing to improve my resume.

I have taken all Pre-Diploma and IB classes my freshman and sophomore years, and am currently taking all IB classes. Clearly I have not taken my IB exams yet, but as I said, this is just a starting point.

Class Rank: 18/600

GPA (weighted): 4.8
GPA (unweighted): 4.0

ACT Math: 34
ACT Reading: 35
ACT Writing: 31
ACT Science: 27
Composite: 32
(retaking this winter)

SAT Math: 690
SAT Writing: 740
SAT Reading: 750
= 2180
(retaking this fall)

Extracurriculars:

Ranked 1st in the state,2nd in the nation and 9th internationally for competitive rock climbing through USAClimbing. Been competing for four years. (I train 25 hours per week, so obviously this eats up most of my time).

Staff Writer for school newspaper

Secretary for school community service club

Writer for school's literary magazine

Volunteer at Mayo Clinic Hospital (summer)

Like I said, I still have another full year until I actually will apply to college - but I would appreciate some feedback as to how it's going so far :) thank you!

If I were you, I would only focus on rock climbing. Having such a short EC list with such recognition (9th internationally- WOW!) will make a much bigger impact on adcoms. I think that you will be more memorable with just one defining EC.

Rock climbing is unique and since you have been so successful at it and have near-perfect stats to boot, I predict that you’ll do quite well in admissions to top schools. Focus on your essay.

Thank you! :)

However, the IB program requires 75 community service hours per year in order to graduate with the IB diploma - so that is inevitable.

I don’t understand how people have so many ECs! There are only so many hours in the day. I write for various school clubs because I really enjoy it, though - not just to beef up my resume. Thanks for your feedback :)
