My uw gpa is 3.08 and my weighted gpa is 4.4. My sat score is 2010 and i have subject test scores of 750 and 650. decent amount of extracurriculars and i am out of state. Please help.

How do you have an unweighted GPA of 3.08 yet you have a weighted GPA of 4.4?

What state are you from? If you are from NJ, it may be tough with your uw gpa and sat score. What were your CR + M sat scores (as UMD doesn’t consider the W score)?

Mario my weighted is higher because i took hard classes and did good in my ap classes yet struggled in others. and my math and reading scores are 690 and 650.

Where I come from, Honors and AP classes add 1 point to whatever grade you got(A=5, B=4, etc.). If every single class is Honors or AP, unless there’s something I’m missing, the difference between your weighted and unweighted GPA should be 1.0 or less, yet the difference is 1.32 in your case.

I think greater detail in your weighted GPA would be helpful.

There are so many ways to calculate weighted GPA (numerous threads on cc about it). UMD recalculates weighted GPA so that they are comparing apples to apples. (in our hs district, there was 1 pt added for honors classes and 2 pts for AP, fwiw).

DAIndian, they will like to see grades trending upwards. If the grades that pulled down your uw GPA were junior year, they will be a bit more critical than if they were from freshman year. Again, if you are from NJ, your chances are not as good as if you were from Wyoming…

Chances for a student from NJ, 2000 SAT, 640 CR, 710 M, 650 W(doesnt matter i know). Around 3.3ish unweighted, 4.1 weighted, with straight A’s junior year, upward trend. Excellent recommendations, and a good essay? Class rank around 90/450.
Anyone? or anyone who is attending currently or past post their gpa/rank/sat
