What are my chances of being accepted as a transfer student into a UC school?

Hello Everyone,
I am a freshman at Manhattan College in NYC. I am originally from San Diego, CA and as much as I love the East Coast and my experience here so far, I miss a lot about living in sunny California. I am thinking of transferring to a school back in my home state as I just feel it would be a better fit for me. I am considering applying to a majority of the UC schools, along with a few other private colleges such as Chapman University. I would really appreciate if you could let me know where I am standing in terms of admission.
My high school GPA was rough my first two years of high school due to medical reasons…around a 2.0 both years. However, as I reached Junior year I began to increase my GPA tremendously. Both semesters of my Junior and Senior year resulted in a steady 3.8 GPA. My ACT score was a 24, with a 28 in the English category. I just began my second semester of college. Last semester I received a 3.7 GPA here at Manhattan College. I hope this is enough information, but if I’m leaving out any important factors, please let me know  Thank you!

UC’s only accept Junior level transfers with 60 semester/90 quarter units and they will not consider your HS grades or test scores. You will accepted based on your academic performance at your current college, if you have completed your required transfer courses and your personal statements along with your college EC’s. Since you are at an OOS school currently, you will be given low priority in the UC transfer process.

CA Community college transfers get priority followed by UC to UC, CSU to UC and then OOS transfers.

I suggest you consider coming home to San Diego and enroll in your local community college where you could TAG to one of the 6 UC’s and complete your transfer requirements.

Thank you, thats a good option to consider. Do you know how long the TAG program would take? 2 years? Thanks again!

You would need a minimum 30 semester/45 quarter units at the CA community college to apply for TAG. Depending upon what courses are UC transferable from your current college, you could apply for TAG by this Fall 2018 to matriculate in Fall 2019 if you start this Summer. The sooner the better if you start at the community college.
