I’ve applied as a transfer applicant for next Fall, and also applied for TAG. I will be coming in as a computer science student, with all prereqs done, and IGETC done as well. Bourns College of Engineering requires that major prereqs are completed with an overall GPA of 3.1. There’s a chance that my current major prereq GPA will drop from a 3.1 to a 2.9-3.0. My overall GPA is right around 3.1-3.2. My question is, if my GPA drops below the TAG requirement, am I still considered a competitive applicant? Are my chances good?
According to the UCR admission’s counselor who visited my college, if you do not meet TAG requirements at the time of your application (November 2015), then you can still be considered for regular admission. If you do meet the requirements and they accept you through TAG, you must make sure to keep your Spring and Summer (if youre taking classes) GPA above the required GPA. So a 3.1 for you. You signed a contract when you applied for TAG. You must maintain your GPA, must pass all your classes, and finish all prereqs. If you can’t do that, you could have your admission rescinded because you agreed to the conditions. Do you currently meet the requirements? When you updated your fall grades, was your GPA still above a 3.1? And why do you think it’ll fall?
I applied to CHASS and i needed a 3.0 to apply for TAG. I applied with a 3.06 and now have a 3.425. Try to improve your GPA like I did. Upward trends look good. Hope this helped. Good luck!!!
