Hi! I am entering junior year in a florida high school. I have a 3.7 GPA (sophomore year) and have passed the Human Geography, World History, and US Government AP tests with 5s and the Language and Composition AP test with a 4. I am a junior rep in student government. I make videos and have won some awards for my films. I also am an employee at Publix (a supermarket) and a volunteer at an animal shelter. I have not taken my SAT/ACT but I did very well on the PSAT. I would like to study computer science at UCLA, what are my chances of getting in? I know that females are underrepresented in computer science so will that help me get admitted into UCLA? Thank you so much!!
You need your test scores posted so that people can chance you. If your test scores are high, then you might be considered but you also have to look at your GPA.
Your current GPA of 3.7 is below the average of students attempting admission. Lots of females are applying to the discipline, so I don’t think that will make much difference.
Since you are from Florida, are you aware that your parents would be paying over $55K per year? (plus 8% increase over the next few years). There is no financial aid/scholarships for OOS students. The UC’s are state-funded schools which means that acceptance and scholarship priority goes to tax-paying residents.
CS at UCLA has around a 10% acceptance rate. Being female will probably give you very little advantage. As an OOS applicant, you need to be at or above the average GPA/SAT/ACT scores, have excellent essays and EC’s (CS related if possible). You should also consider taking 2 SAT subject tests in addition to the SAT/ACT. Also be aware that you will receive little to no financial aid as an OOS applicant so be prepared to pay $55K/year for 4 years of undergrad.

At the end of Junior year, you will need to calculate your UC GPA using the UC calculator, only a-g course requirements from 10-11th grades and you can only used AP/IB classes for the extra honors points.
My dad lives in California could I use his address to apply as an in-state student?
pretty sure you need to live there 1 year before you can be counted as in-state
No, you will not be counted as in-state. You have to have attended a high school in California. A UC education is most likely unaffordable for you.
They will see your high school is not from California.
CS in UCLA is one of the hardest majors to get into. a 3.7 GPA is pretty far from the average GPA especially if that is your weighted GPA.
Check out the averages for Engineering at UCLA. You might need to have better stats that this since your an OOS applicant.
