Hi everyone -
I'm a 2016 graduate from high school (so currently a junior) and I'm a recruited athlete who will be going to Yale. What I'm really worried about is whether I'll be able to be successful there. I just took my first SATs and got a 2,030. I'm currently my class salutatorian, I've had an A+ in every class I've taken in high school, and all 8 of the courses I currently take are AP/IB.
Knowing I'm going to Yale as an athlete though makes me worried about how I'll compare to the other students, especially those who are there based on having more academic merit than I have. I would love to graduate magna cum laude, but I know how extremely difficult it will be especially with the high caliber competition. I know I have low SAT scores, especially compared to Yale's average, but with a strong work ethic (which I'd like to think I have) do you think I have any chance?
Thanks for honest opinions.

You will be fine. There’s a common misconception that everybody at an ivy league is super smart. That is simply not true! Your SAT’s are really good and your grades sound amazing too. With all your IB/AP courses you will be very well prepared. Please don’t stress about it. You will be fine. They wouldn’t have admitted you if they thought you couldn’t handle the workload. Keep an open mind and work as hard as you can and you will thrive at Yale.

sparkl3 - Thank you so much, it really means a lot considering this has been weighing heavily on my mind for a while now.
