when Duke reads your application, it follows a process. it is first read by a reader who is not part of the admissions staff. they’ll rate you on a 1-5 scale on each of 6 categories: rigor of high-school academic program, academic performance, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities and personal qualities, personal statement and essay, and standardized testing. from there, it goes to your regional admissions officer who will go through the same rankings, adjusting the previous scores.
from here, there’s a tiny chance you’ll become an “auto-admit” or “auto-deny,” but ~95% of applications will go on to the final round where your application is read and discussed in a room by the admissions committee.
based on your stats, you will definitely have strong scores in the rigor of your course load, academic performance, and standardized testing. your extracurriculars look super strong as well! since Duke uses a holistic admissions process, a good amount of your decision lies in your essays and recommendations.
be interesting! be creative! be yourself! Duke is really looking for passionate, unique individuals who are willing to fully embrace every aspect of the Duke experience. if this is somewhere you’d really like to attend, make sure this is clear in your “why duke?” focus on what makes you special and try to develop a cohesive narrative, a common thread in your application.
