I have a 3.901 weighted GPA, 3.7 unweighted GPA, 31 ACT, I’m Asian Indian, Top 20% of my class, President of Orchestra, President of Science Olympiad, Senior Leader (equivalent to co-president) of Student Mentors, Youth Coordinator of a central Ohio Indian cultural organization, and have been volunteering at the zoo for the last 4 years.
If you’ve gotten the scholarship or even if you haven’t do you think I have a chance?
How have you established that you are a champion for diversity and inclusion. That is more important …
In my essay I talked a lot about my involvement as Youth Coordinator of a central Ohio Indian cultural organization. I talked about growing up in two different worlds: Indian and American and how that made me feel like I didn’t completely belong to either. Then I went on to describe how being involved in the organization has given me a community of like-minded first-generation immigrants and ended with my hopes to keep the Indian festival culture alive both in the organization I am involved in and at The Ohio State University.
It sounds like you have a chance, especially if your involvement shows that you’ve been a leader in working to bring diverse groups/individuals together or have otherwise enhanced/promoted cross-cultural relationships. @osuprof put it perfectly - they’re looking for students who have been champions for diversity and inclusion.
