What are my chances of getting accepted- Cornell and/or Dartmouth?

3.5UW Freshman GPA: Honors WH, Honors Bio, Honors Spanish, and Honors English, but CP math
<--- I struggled with depression and bullying- my usual straight A's in middle school slipped to B's. I talked about overcoming my struggle with bullying in my essay- how I expressed myself through writing.

3.82UW Soph GPA: Honors World History II, Honors Chem, Honors Spanish, Honors English, CP Algebra II

4.0GPA Junior Year: AP Us History, Honors Physics, Honors Calc, Honors Spanish, AP English

Senior Year: 4.0 so far with AP Algebra, AP Spanish, AP Poetry, AP Physics, and AP Gov

First 3 Years Cummulative UW GPA: 3.77

2280 SAT

I'm going to take the SAT subject tests for English and WH- I know I'll do well :)

I'm captain of the track team this year, captain of Literary Magazine, member of school council, founder of Environmental club, captain of mock trial: I've done these activities for 3 years (went to different school frosh year).

I won a gold national Spanish exam award 3 years in a row, bronze in 9th grade. I've received school awards in English and WH. I was chosen to participate in the New England Young Writer's Conference and participated in the NYLF for Law and CSI.

I have 600 community service hours- I work at a soup kitchen and nursing home, plus I tutor kids in Spanish. I've worked at a grocery store for 3 years.

I'm white and Native American. My uncle attended Cornell.

From what I’ve gathered, Cornell seems like a little bit of a reach. Overcoming adversity’s always nice, and your being Native American also helps. I’d say Dartmouth, however, would be more of a reach (less likely). Good luck! :)

Also, please chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1421757-please-chance-me.html

Obviously you won’t have the highest GPA, but overcoming your struggles so well looks like it will make for a great essay, and really humanize you. You also have a few hooks which will increase your chances even more. Being native American with your credentials is something all the colleges would love to have I bet. You also have a cornell hook, and if you can put your uncle down on the cornell app, I’m sure it will increase your chances even more. I give you Low reach- Reach for Dartmouth and High Match- low reach for Cornell. If you applied ED to Cornell I would guess you wre in without any doubt, but I really think you have an excellent chacne of getting in RD too cause of how unique an applicant you are. Good Luck!

Okay well your GPA isn’t right where the average is in Dartmouth or Cornell but these schools don’t just look at your grades. Great SAT and the community service hours are strong, i would agree it does seem like a reach school. But don’t worry you never know what’s gonna happen. However you should apply to other schools to just in case.

Your GPA is a tad low for these schools, but any admissions officer will see that you have an upward trend with your grade and that you’re taking challenging courses. Community service is definitely a plus, your SAT score is great, and your extracurriculars aren’t bad. Native American, however, is a great strength in your application, especially with the Ivy League. Both are just a slight reach, I’d say you’re likely to get in to Cornell, slightly harder at Dartmouth just because of lower acceptance rate.

Cornell is a possibility, not so much for Dartmouth

Dartmouth I think is a big reach for you, but you have a legit shot at Cornell good luck!
